Thats the old Dome building isnt it, on Bristol St? If I'm right then its pretty central, most city centre hotels are no more than 15 mins or so walk. Just make sure you get a hotel north of the venue and not south.

There is an Etap 2 mins walk away and an Ibis even closer.
There is a Radisdon just over the road and a Holiday Inn next door to that.
In fact most are under 10 mins away including the Hyatt on Broad Street and The Mailbox.
Just avoid The Brittania, an absolute hole of a place.
