Evening all,
In the past I've seen posts regarding this subject but a quick search has drawn a blank.
So, as a my hairline is rapidly receding I'm trying to keep it presentable but all of the clippers I've been using have turned out to be poor quality.
All I need is a Grade 2 which doesn't need multiple passes to actually cut what little hair I have left.
Recommended away, please.

I've got a set of mains powered Wahl clippers that are 20 YO+ and still going strong. Also a set of Babyliss rechargable clippers that are more gentle on the turnip being a bit lighter. I cut mine right back to the wood using the clippers. Missus won't let me razor it down to the bone....I look (more) like a criminal apparently 😀

Both great clippers I'd happily recommend.

Wahl Balding Clippers (yes they are called Balding !)
Shop around and find for around £50.
Some reviews say cut themselves, never been a problem .Built to last. You can even get spare parts.

Best and possibly the last clippers I'll have

Rather than the Balding version, I think the one you want/need is the Super Taper. As I understand it, this one has a better motor than the cheaper Wahl clippers.

I use these Babyliss trimmers. They are actually a beard trimmer, but work better than even the mains-powered Wahl clippers I had.

Wahl super taper mains +1

I bought them as it's what the barbers seem to use and I figured they know more about it than me.

Just shave it proper, you'll only end up there anyway if you're proper baldy so just take the direct route now.

wahl clippers, buy once

I've got a Wahl clipper, the battery is sodded. If I charge it for a week, I get about three minutes' runtime out of it.

Watching this thread with interest, I can only assume battery tech has moved on.

I've a set of Wahls, love them, but no I jut use a Mach 3 once a week, and take it all off..
I get a week out of it before it needs doing again.

A No.2 just makes me look like a Salted Peanut.

Another Wahl Super Taper user here. Mine must be 8 years old and still going strong. One of the best birthday presents I've ever received.

Wahl clippers here. 20yrs old or so. I know they are good quality as the mrs bought them for the dog.

I inherited the clippers from him.

Shows the pecking order in this house..

I use the Philips ones with the rotating head and they seem to work fine. It says on the box "Cut your own hair. Even in hard-to-reach spots". But I've only ever used them in my own bathroom.

Had the Phillips Wooster mentioned for many a year until the plastic guide broke last year. Now trying Wahl. Both have been as good at cutting my grade 2 bonce.

Get your missus (?!) to do it. Terrible results but a bonding experience 🙂

I use babyliss beard trimmers too. Tried the wahl head trimmers but weirdly the smaller 'blade' makes it much easier to use beard trimmer

Another Phillips rotating head user here , got bought as a Chrimbo pressie nearly 3 years ago and prefer them to the standard Wahl ones I used for 15 years previously. I can't comment on how good the plastic guides are/aren't cos I've never used them #cutdowntothewood.

My Whals are over 25 years old and are still going strong. Saved me a fortune over the years.

I've got the rotating head Philips thing. The rechargeable battery has now pretty much given up, think I bought them in 2010. I'll buy the new model as they're good clippers.
