Is there a way on streamed YT channels to amend the url so it automatically streams with captions? The toggle button isn't pulled into the streaming location so it's not an option to use it

Looks like it is maybe only supported via embedded links - try this.
e.g. https://www.youtube.com/embed/9Auq9mYxFEE?cc_load_policy=1&cc_lang_pref=en
