I'm terrible with money, I earn a decent wage but never have much to show for it. Does anyone have ant experience with these online money management things I keep seeing? Just seen one called Cleo and it links to your bank to monitor your spending.

Why not just go with a Bank that offers you a spending profile App... Like Barclays or Starling or others that offer it ?
The two quoted ^^ have a spending profile that classifies and quantifies what and how you are spending..
Mint is an app often rated highly.
The alternative is to download your transactions for the last X months and build your own spreadsheet & categorise all your spending. I split into income, fixed costs, groceries, discretionary spending and savings. From there you can further subcategorise to your heart's content.
Easy & quick to build and can see exactly where your wages go..
