..under a load of other rubbish. Thought I might do a bit of art welding

The aim is to create something in the style of the dragon I did previously just using the junk in the garage.

Nice that!
Mind that black mat on the step though, with your reputation...

And after a short afternoon playing at welding I have this.

I have decided to stop for the day as I could smell the neighbours BBQ and then realise it was the sparks from welding BBQing my legs and feet.

Oh well, back to work tomorrow

(Speaking from experience) if those shorts aren't cotton you can find yourself in quite an exciting inferno where you're clothes are equally on fire, shrinking rapidly and turning to napalm and running down you and setting anything else you're wearing on fire too. Then it all sticks to your fingers and sets those on fire too when you try and pat yourself out.

It all happens very quicklyl

Makes an interesting prelude to a rush-hour bus ride home. 🙂 Smelling like a bin fire and wearing shunken, holey, crispy clothing with fingers like  spare ribs.

Seriously... check the labels of anything you're wearing

That blue glow when when you're welding is UV light so you may well find you have a nice sun burn later 🙂

Shorts damage is actually from angle grinder with wire brush spitting bits out, just posted here for comic effect - I have a reputation to uphold :-). Jeans when welding but still flip flops so lots of splatter on my feet

Such a calamity appears unlikely with someone so blessed with such good fortune as World Class ACCIDENT

maybe for the best - at least the spatter bounces off. Nothing more amusing that a big glob of weld falling down the top of your boot then having nowhere to go 🙂

No proper feeling in the knackered right foot, hence the smell of BBQ meat before I looked down. Dab of Savlon and it's fine

Do you know of Michael Kusz, a sculptor based in Reeth? He has a thing about dragons and bats and crows and ducks.

I saw this one incorporating an old caterpillar track years ago at the art gallery in Muker.

Dragon

Also there was this fabulous duck attempting to fly off with a massive rock.

Love those There is a great one in Southampton I can't find a picture of with one person throwing a rope to another. All in bronze. I will try to copy the concept at some point I am sure

Whilst I admire your creativity and skills OP, there’s a very real sense of complete idiocy when we’re all trying to unburden the A&E departments with unnecessary injuries 😉

Appropriate clothing makes you more of a man 😉

Why is it that every time I see a WCA post involving artwork and power tools, I now expect to see either x-rays or a report from the hospital as a second post?

That aside, nice work on the sculpture! Looks damned fine

tbh i get the feeling your user name could be avoided by attendance of a basic risk assessment course.

Would you really want to go to hospital at the moment? Burns get infected super-easily.

Please can we relax.

I do take personal safety WAY MORE SERIOUSLY that I post on here.

There is a big difference between the internet and reality and living about 300m from Southampton General Hospital I am well aware of the current situation.

These posts are just a mix of boredom relief - making the art - and light entertainment for you guys.

Think of it as a poor tribute to the great Kenny Everett and his Reg Prescott sketches :

After a brief interlude I decided to paint the dragon and it looks okay but it needs wings

I have some scrap metal, an angle grinder with 1mm cutting blade and a drill. Who can give me an easy pattern for the wings?
