The boy has a new stunt scooter on his Christmas list and I am finding it hard to justify the move from his current MGP VX7 to the new VX9. Other than it being shiny and new and the 2 weeks of 'new shiny' pleasure I can't see any reason for the change. However, as it's Christmas and it is what he wants from us (apart from a full suss MTB which he can carry on dreaming about) I am trying to find one that offers more than just a different colour way.

Are there any brands out there apart from the usual Gritt, MGP etc. that a scooter fan would go gooey over? The sort of gooey you might feel if you looked at a braze on a Curtis mtb, you know the feeling??

Full suss mtb would clearly melt him. You know it make sense 😉
On the downside you will never have an excuse to not ride as somebody will always be pestering you if it's anything like my house!

It's a no from me :-). He is getting my Cotic Rocket (26er) when he is big enough for it. I struggle to justify over £300 for an individual xmas gift, call me tight.

Have a look at the custom builder at skatehut. My son has one which was built up with a load of district stuff.  He loves it and its transformed his riding. Way lighter that the MGP he had before.

Bars, deck and clamp are District, bars are Ethic.  I'm not really sure which brands are the most desirable, but he's had plenty of admiring comments from other kids.

The skatehut builder is pretty clever and should only let you choose components (forks/headsets) that are compatible - it also gives you the total weight of the finished build.
