Finally finished this one. Amazing what happens when you can't ride bikes...! Taken just over a year
Comfortably the largest lump of plastic I've built. I got a little lost detailing the bomb bay after an exceptionally pedantic build on pistonheads ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=159&t=1960798&i=0 )
The kit went together mostly reasonably well. The intakes aren't perfect but are decent until you look reasonably closely. Needed to do a fair bit of sanding and rescribing between the nose section and the main fuselage.
Annoyingly the frog yellow masking tape I used for the camo left residue which I didn't spot until I was spraying a coat of pre-decal gloss varnish. It doesn't show up too badly in the pics, but is pretty obvious in person.
Talking of pics - rubbish weather, rubbish light, so they're not great and a lot of the tonal variation I managed to get from an oildot wash hasn't come out.

Impressive @JonEdwards. That kit is a big 'ole lump, I wouldn't have the room for it. After I built the 32nd Spit, it's pretty much just plonked on my scanner/printer as there's nowhere for it to go otherwise. I saw that Pistonheads Vulcan at the Telford show, it's even more mad IRL. Some folks are doing stuff on models that makes what the rest of us are doing look like Lego.
Currently on a Trumpeter MiG-3. which is teeny by comparison to the Vulcan even though it's a larger scale.

I’m doing something small as a palate cleanser, then I’ve got the equally large Airfix Victoria K2 that I want to build as Bob Tuxford’s XL189 to go alongside XM607. The 2 together is going to be a logistical challenge…!
ps @nickc - that FW190 is lovely! My airbrush skills just aren't up to mottling.
Got some "bother" about this. I need to move it. 
I did have a vague idea for doing the Victor/Vulcan combo as a piece of wall art, in flight refuelling. But that's still quite a big bit of wall and it would obviously need to be done gear up, bomb bays closed and where's the fun in that?? And it would need a lot of dusting. Might revisit in 1:144 at some point!
I've been told in no uncertain terms that my planes will not be hanging from the ceiling...
I'm allowed that beam above and behind the shuttle, and NOTHING ELSE. However it is directly over the stairs, so any slip would mean a 20ft fall to my certain death.
Some great stuff on this thread. I've recently started working on my first kit for more than 30 years - just a simple Revell 1:100 Apache helicopter. Building it has done wonders for my wellbeing.

The MiG 3 was a high altitude fighter bought into service in late '40 to replace the MiG-1. Initial deployment was hampered by a lack of pilot training and poor build quality. The head of the VVS institute was found negligent in the end for its faults, and was executed! Under 10,000ft pilots reported that it flew "like a cow" and was something of a sitting duck for the Luftwaffe, who shot it down in large numbers - lots of the historic photo record for the airplane is either damaged or abandoned aircraft photo'd by the Nazis. Mine is a winter camouflaged version from 122IAP - February 1942 - some of the last made in Factory No.1 before it converted to make the Sturmovik Il2 . The slogan down the side reads "For the Bolshevik party"
That looks pretty, even if it was a "cow".
I'm building a P61 Black Widow at the moment. Another aircraft that looked cool but was a bit of a donkey.
However life seems to be getting in the way, so I can't see there being much progress for a while.
A slightly more rapid effort from me after the year long Vulcan saga... Just over a month is a sprint for me...
Italeri P-38J Lighting.
Would have been an easy build, other than getting talked into fitting more accurately shaped resin engine cowlings by the Britmodeller rivetcounters which then didn't match the contours of the kit and needed a lot of filling and sanding to blend in. Came out OK in the end, although the cowlings don't match the diameter of the prop spinners either which is less noticeable unless the light catches it wrong.
Reasonably happy overall...

Cool looking aircraft. I've got the Hobby 2000 night fighter version. Was going to do it next but I want a break from twin boomed black painted tail sitters.
