[Closed] Chinese stainless steel bolts (Motorcycle content)

Just been looking for some handlebar risers for the motorcycle and noticed Chinese ones on Ebay for £25 as opposed to German made ones at £75 + postage. The risers themselves are machined aluminium and the bolts stainless. I thought that if I replace the bolts with UK sourced ones, the risers themselves should be safe enough. Opinions?

I've used Chinese parts, and bolts. None have failed. Coupons, risers etc. Back in the day a few brake levers caused binding, but they're ok now too

I'd not be concerned

I'd buy and assess when you have them in your hand. Hard to generalise 'Chinese' these days. Only then would I put my confidence in them. Thing is if it's at the back of your mind....

I wouldn’t be surprised if the german ones are stamped ‘made in china’ tbh.
I mean, practically everything is these days.

Which is a fair point, however said German firm has imported then and accepts liability for any problems, so there's very likely some degree of QC, if not direct involvement in manufacture and design.

I've had a couple of sets of adjustable levers on different motorbikes, my Street Triple had Triumphs own branded ones and my R1 had Pazzo levers. A couple of other bikes including my current one have had Ebay specials from China. The only discernable difference is the price, £35 for a pair of the Ebay ones or £85 each for the Pazzo's. Otherwise they look absolutely identical!

Bought some rearsets for my R1 from China - £100 compared to £400 for UK branded - well made and robust and used for 4 years now with no probs. The bodywork kits are also great...got my original fairings tucked away to keep them fresh...

Don't forget there are many grades of aluminium. Not saying it makes a difference in this application but is somewhere you can save money.

Thanks for the replies - I've just realised that the bolts screw into alloy anyway, so the strength or otherwise of the steel isn't an issue. I'll give them a punt for £25.

might be stamped as stainless, i'd bet it isn't.
