Can anybody recommend one, give me an idea of what it might cost to get a chimney swept?

Go out of town, the Edinburgh based ones are extortionate. Can't remember who we used but they where from Dalkieth or Port Seton or some such place.

I think they were 1/4 of the price of an Edinburgh company.

Thanks Jock. Google tells me that there are sweeps in both of those places. Was it Kleen Sweep from Prestonpans?
None of the sites of the ones I've looked at give any idea of a price.

Kleensweep sounds very familiar. Pretty sure it was them.

Would shop around a bit though and get a couple of quotes as it was a couple of years ago now and things may have changed.

£30 for a set of rods from B&Q and an old sheet with a slot in the middle plus some gaffer tape to stick it over the opening - job done.

and the rods will last for years just remember to keep turning in the same direction !!
