First boy has lost his first tooth today. He's been going on and on and on about the tooth fairy for ages, since the tooth started to get wobbly.

Well he's only gone and swallowed the bloody thing when he was eating an apple.

D'oh.

Swallowing a tooth wont cause any problems will it?

Nothing to worry about.

Not a pleasant job for the tooth fairy though...

only for you trying to recover it later so he gets his quid.

I recommend a seive and a gentle stream of water from a hose...

Nope, the fairy can handle that one, no problem!

You can do the 'fairy sifts through your poo' thing if your boy is into poo humour (and what boy isn't?) or keep it general.

Wouldn't suggest tooth collection and cleanage... the tooth doesn't have to be present for the transaction to take place.

Either way, as long as there's hard coinage under the pillow in the morning there shouldn't be a problem!

There is a story here about my expensive crown that came off whilst eating a pastie

Anyway what you need is a colander - in the bowl of the toilet pan. Try to avoid doing the sieving outside in the snow as the topic your mulching through freezes, meaning you need to use a kettle of hot water.

This hot water mixed with said "topic" produces the most marvellous of smells 😯

Anyway - it takes about 48hrs which was very interesting as i always thought i was on a 24hr cycle. End of the story, tooth was found and reapplied saving about £350 🙂

For £450 they might even clean it up first 😉

My youngest girl has lost 3 so far. The first was knocked out in a playground brawl (aka rough play, 6 year olds don't brawl properly yet), the third was kicked out by her older sister recreating the Tae kwon Do they'd seen on the Olympics (both were already wobbly, in fairness)

The second created the biggest issue for the tooth fairy though. She appeared first thing in the morning with a tooth and in tears. Apparently the tooth fairy had missed her out. Unknown to us she'd woken in the night, wobbled her very loose tooth with her tongue and it had come out. So she put it under her pillow and went back to sleep.

had to think on our feet quickly that morning.......
