Anyone had to have unusual growths checked out? I think mine are probably harmless Keratoses, being checked out Wednesday. Still can't help thinking about it all the time.
Any experiences?
Back and chest BTW, no ones ever said anything until my son pointed them out.
Had a dodgy mole hacked out last year. No problems really.
i thought everyone in the world had the most innocuous pimple hacked off, certainly seems like it in my lab atm
if it's growing, is deeply pigmented, has changed recently, has irregular borders, bleeding etc, get it checked out
Most GP's will put you on a 2 week referral to Skin Clinic if there's any doubt.
I had a Squamous skin cancer removed last December, now on 6 monthly review for 5 years - don't wait - get it looked at!
Factor 50 for me now..
Got a shedload of actinic keratoses, and some moles, despite never sunbathing, presumably the result of being bought up under antipodean skies.
I'm lucky to have been taken under the wing of a newish gp at our local centre- he seems to have an almost fetishistic interest in skin conditions. Inroduced to me dermnet, which is quite disturbing, but supposedly pretty authoratitive. Here's the page on solar keratoses... I'm using something called Solaraze gel on mine, which is apparently reasonably expensive, and needs about 3 months usage, but is supposedly quite effective.
Like everybody above alludes- everything needs to be checked, and regularly.
had some nasty looking lumps and bumps burnt off by my Gp painless only downside the smell of YOUR burning flesh..( skin)
I had a funny looking mole on my inner thigh. I hadn't worried about it until my girlfriend said I should get it checked out.
Booked an appointment to see my GP who referred me to a specialist who referred me to the surgeon who cut it out & had it analysed. Only a few weeks from start to finnish but it felt like a long time as once the Dr had decided it was worthy of investigation I couldn't put it out of my mind. Mine was ultimately harmless & I expect yours will be too but a good move to have it checked out.
