we are flying to Heathrow on tues night for a flight out to NYC on weds morning and we are staying in the Ibis hotel near Heathrow. The shuttle bus charges £4 each each way but I wanted to see if a taxi would be cheaper than £8 (for two) as its more convenient!?

anyone know?

The buses are virtually free of charge, check 111 or 105.

the problem with the free bus is that the central bus station is too far to walk with cases and hand luggage.

Eh? You lazy get! Use a flipping trolley!

Honestly, some people. Try to save them money, but then they're frightened about having to walk a little bit! 😆

Anyway, the bus station is right outside T1,2,3!!

Seems like a lot of effort (not for the OP clearly) in order to save some shrapnel?

You're on holiday FFS!

Not really; you have to walk the same distance to get a taxi or any bus ffs!

i'm not talking about the bus station from the airport. i mean the other end. I have worked it out from http://www.worldtaximeter.com/london and its only £2 more in a taxi which is actually better than the bus.

I have to say that that is a lot of research to save £2.

Is your whole holiday like this? 🙂

Can't imagine the cabbie being happy either

why's that?

Because he wants £50 fares into town
He doesn't want to run the highclimber clan a couple of miles down the road only to have to join the back of the queue to pick up a decent fare

Little money saving tip for when you're in NY.......
The cabbies don't require a tip, they're quite happy with a cheery thank you
