Second the Garmin Instinct. I was initially dismissive but a few friends have them now and are really impressed. Bonus points for the Casio G-Shock look.

Hit that that there ebay. I'm using a FR25 that cost me the princely sum of £20 and works fine for the occasional 5k/treadmill time...

The FR35 would be worth having for the optical HR.

I got a FR45 cheap when Garmin had a sale. Decent enough for the running and cycling I do.
