MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Hi, I'm looking at setting up a small scale speculative thing and ideally would like an email address that looks professional e.g. name@company.co.uk rather than a gmail.com address.
Only need 1 email, no web services, no big storage, simple as chips. Seen lots at £5-10 per month but offer a lot more than I need. Need to budget down hard on this project so any other providers that are dead cheap?!
Cheers
Most domain hosts will offer you a cheap mailbox these days, check there first, eg 123-reg will do 99p/month for starter package
I use Zoho (free) for the mail side of things, been reliable and adequate for me for years.
Depends what you want from it really.
I use these for web hosting (see other thread). They have an email package too.

You want a "professional-looking" email address on a personalised domain, but you don't want any sort of web presence whatsoever, not even a single holding page?
Have a look at mail.com maybe? They offer a raft of uncommon but generic domain names so you could have for instance aus@accountant.com or aus@engineer.com.
You can use your own personal domain with gmail if you've got a provider.
TSO have just launched an email product.

I have a domain and email forwarding set up through NetNerds. I don't have a webpage but it means I have an email address along the lines of "me@blahblah.co.uk" which is then redirected to my me.com mailbox. If I stop using me.com and/or change ISP my email address remains the same.
If you like gmail as an email service, do it all (Domain + Email) through them - saves having to go through the process of pointing nameservers.
I use them for three paid email accounts, and one domain (but when I can be arsed I will move the other two from 123-reg who like to follow inflation with glee)
Gmail charge a few quid a month for the email account and 10 quid a year for the domain. Might even be free in the first year I can't remember.
Another vote for using google
£4.60 a box each month
easy to add others as you need. or look at Microsofts hosted exchange/365 which is a bit cheaper.
Id be wary of overly cheap hosting offers from new/small companies.
the industry has calmed down. but its very easy to rent a bit of colo, buy a couple of old Dells, a Cpanel licence and set yourself up as a hosting provider.
£5 a month might seem like a lot but its usually cheaper than the cost when a hosting provider loses some emails.
I've got my own email with domain j@smar.co.uk and website. Costs very little, all the email is done through gmail. I've no idea how it works but it's fine. Through Yola.
