MegaSack DRAW - This year's winner is user - rgwb
We will be in touch
Sold an old iPhone on eBay - buyer has zero feedback and no transaction history, paid by Paypal from a validated address - which looks like a rough arse council estate from Streetview.
Anyway, item dispatched via collectplus (signature on delivery) so should be there in a couple of days... Predictions of "what happens next" - nearest gets a virtual pint! 😀 😀
My bet is that it's received then he claims it doesn't work / not as described and claims a refund through buyer protection 😥
Although maybe I'm being too cynical!!!
If you're so suspicious why not reverse the paypal transaction and refuse to sell it to him before posting it out? ❓

And sends you back a real not-working phone 🙂
Record serial number and photographs with you etc.
maybe you're just being a complete muppet just because you can afford a better house/postcode than someone else.
Pathetic.
You're not being cynical, you're just being a knob.
At least give them a chance!!!! They paid didn't they.
My street looks awful on street view and I'm not a thief!
Everyone had zero feedback at some point.
🙄 🙄
Any more room up there on the collective STW high horse?
Buyer has very much been given the benefit of the doubt - could well be new user, first transaction etc. Yeah, yeah - I get all that, which is why the phone was posted immediately.
But plenty of scammers on ebay, and I suspect mobile phones are one of the biggest areas so plenty of reasons to be suspicious of no history, no feedback. Regardless of whether he's thieving pikey scum living on benefits in a house paid for by my taxes. Did I cover enough Daily Mail stereotypes there for you?? 😆
I get why you're cynical about it - there seem to be more idiots than genuine people on ebay these days.
A question for those saying refund him and don't send it.... how does the seller avoid negative feedback for not completing the sale, cos I'd sure as hell neg someone for accepting my bid and then just changing their mind?
Buyer has very much been given the benefit of the doubt
No he hasn't, hence the rest of your post.

I really don't get your point? I sent phone the day I received payment without asking any more questions - as far as actions go, I couldn't have been more trusting.
Yes, I have doubts for a number of reasons, which isn't unreasonable considering how much fraud occurs on eBay, but I trusted him and posted him the phone. Whatever I post on here has no relevance to that - the phone has already been dispatched 🙄

Send him an invoice for his rent. 😆
I predict that the payment will be disputed because damage* to the phone, the buyer will be refunded by Paypal, return the phone by royal Mail 1st class and it will be lost in the system. You'll be out of pocket and out of phone and the buyer will be Watsontony**.
Everyone berating you will then claim they said no such thing and just meant you should have given him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise***.
*Damage that wasn't there, but buyer claims is
** Probably not

Yes, the fact he lives in a less salubrious area than you isn't undreasonable grounds at all for the initial post.

I never said he lived in a less salubrious area than me. You jumped to that conclusion on your own. Chip on your shoulder, old boy??
The fact he lives in a shithole of council estate was only one of 4 things I noted as raising suspicion (but the one you chose to dwell on). The only reason I bothered looking at streetview was:
1) Phone - higher risk on eBay
2) No feedback
3) No eBay history
Would I have been more reassured if I'd found his address was a nicely maintained, large semi in the suburbs with a beautiful and extensive front garden and two Audi's on the drive? Damn straight!
And again, what was your point??? 🙄 🙄
Why send the phone if you think it's a scam?
Send a pack of playing cards, best way to beat the scammer is to scam the scammer!!!

Clearly I'm too trusting!! 😆
Hoping to be proved right and he's a top chap who leaves great feedback...
I'll be sure to post the outcome up here and then you can all feel free to flame me regardless of which way it turns out!
having a nice house and 2 audis on the drive proves fek all as far as trustworthiness in my opinion.

What it does prove though is there are two people who will drive like d1ck5
Any update?
The buyer infected the OP with Chimaera and he failed to get hold of any Belopheron in time?
Funny, I was just ramaging through to find this thread for an update and up it popped... Anyway, after a lengthy wait, positive feedback has now been left so it would appear the buyer was genuine. All the haterz can now glow with self rituous and smug satisfaction of being right all along 😉

That perfectly explains why I was rammed last week despite being in the right lane, driving carefully and considerately. If only I had realised that driving the wrong make of car put me instantly at fault... At least it explains why the criminal *expletive filtered* told me it was my fault and then left the scene without leaving his details...
I wish I had the benefit of your knowledge Logical when I was choosing my last car. I could have saved myself so much grief! How much do you charge for your vehicular consultancy and do you provide expert driver assessment as a service or is it just bullshit stereotyping that you offer?
Glad it turned out fine.

Oh that's free of charge along with many other stereotypes and based on the number of near misses while riding/driving that I've had with people in BMW's and Audi's.
