Evening All,
Two weeks ago we had a valve replaced on our central heating ( the one that closes off the central heating part )
Since the valve was replaced the central heating system has been quite noisy and the radiators seem to get sporadically warm.
This, to me, points at air in the system. All radiators have been bled and I have released a bit of trapped air from the pump but something is just not right.
Any suggestions? Any recourse with the heating engineer?
The central hating is a non combi boiler, hot water tank and the std two tanks in the loft.
Bleed your rads.. If that doesn't cure it get the plumber that changed the valve back out to fix.. Air maybe needs bled out the pump..
Basically try and sort the stuff you can do- then get a professional out.
Hmm.
Also it now seems if that if the hot water from the tank is used whilst the heating is on, the rads go cold until the hot water is hot again.
I despair!
Is the pump running properly?
Yep, pump seems to be running fine.
Why did you get the valve replaced ,i_e what was the problem before ?
It sounds like its either air locked, or the valve is either the wrong type, or in the wrong way round.
From cold, put the water on, does the heat from the valve flow to the cylinder or the rads? Pics please.
a valve with apipe at either end or a valve with three pipes going into it?
The valve was replaced as when the central heating shut off (at the timer) the valve didn't always close and the pump would run and run. Before you ask there isn't a pump overrun thermostat.
Hadn't occurred to check the valve was the correct ways around but figure this would be a silly mistake to make. Either way I will have a look!
The valve is inline with the feed to I guess the radiators.
Hot water heats up fine and all pipes immediatatley around the boiler and HW tank get nice and hot.
The rads have just gone off again as more hot water has been used.
May need to make a call.....
Is there heat down stream of the ch valve ? If not try to open the manual lever fitted to the valve and see if this helps
Sorry, do you two two port valves, or one three port valve?
Pics of the set up please.
