Heading there next week, me, the wife and 2 kids, aged 10 and 6. Not been to Sherwood one before but used to go to Whinfell a lot...not been in 4 yrs though.

Have prebooked various bits and pieces for the kids, and taking their Islabikes. hiring clunkers for me and mrs.

so any highs/lows etc ?

highs - sherwood pines is a 10 minute ride along a fireroad beside the site away ๐Ÿ™‚

lows - make sure you put your bike in the little cupboard with the boiler in it and chain it to the gas supply pipe ๐Ÿ™

rest is usual CP stuff - the curries are quite good.

Went this spring, last minute thing

Lows .... Food ... very low .... take/buy your own.

Highs ... Accommodation we had was great, 2 bed/bath house with open plan downstairs, felt as if we were the first ever to have used it.

Spa...the wife was pleasantly surprised, said it was vgood... and she knows about such things, being an Essex girl.

Activites ... can't really say, my dust bin lids are 4 years and 18 months so didnt do the things you are likely too ... but we had fun

Years ago the Sunday all you can eat Jazz brunch was very good! Dunno if they still do it?

Take a proper mtb for a quick ride round the Pines to escape the family! As wwaswas says it's on your doorstep.

If you have a carp fishing rod, its worth taking one, the Carp fishing was amazing last time I went, fish a cast (3-8 lb mostly), that busy I did not have time to set up a 2nd rod for me!

Kept my 9 year old very busy.

Its worth checking out the Tree top lodges too, if you ask one of the cleaners and they are not busy and occupied, you might even get a free tour, they are amazing inside ๐Ÿ˜‰

thanks for info so far, some good tips, cheers.

Was not planning on taking a decent bike given security issues, but might think again
