Quite a few now have apps for Iphone or Android that you does what you ask and whole lot more through WiFi.
On a remote control It wouldn't be possible as the handset only transmits and not receives through IR.

jam bo - whats the Piccolo like? Thinking of getting one, seems a pretty good spec for what I want it for (i.e. NAS and iPhone)

I have a Denon too and the app is pretty good. Quite a few updates over the time I've used which to me means it is something they're taking serious rather than a gimmick.
Onkyo, Pioneer and Yamaha do them as well. Sony got a bit of a skating for theirs. Have a look at who is providing apps for your device and how they''re rated.
A lot of AV Amps have displays too and most display onto a tv if eyesight is a problem

Really good. Use the Internet radio more than anything else. Not sure what the denon speakers are like, mines running with a pair of arcam solos.
