Any suggestions? I'm after something that is practical, not bulky, doesn't have a hood, but is windproof without looking like I've just climbed the Eiger. Mainly for winter evenings out and site visits.

I tend to go with outdoor clothing manufacturers, such as North face, as I know they last, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Mine is a plain black montane jacket. They don't do it anymore but in general their plain black stuff is ok as casual wear.

Also look at Keela.

No help at all but I've always thought a beige / sand pertex top in an old school windcheater style would be perfect. Packs the size of an orange but looks fine in town on a breezy summers day.

No it doesn't, the Hoody version has a hood but the standard version doesn't

Well in that case they don't do the non-hoody version any more.

It's the Simple Guide "Jacket" version without a hood, the "Hoody" has the hood
A quick Google found it in several shops

There's also the Patagonia Guide jacket which is a thicker and more robust jacket
Too many options!

Fair enough. It's not on the Patagonia website, though.

Blacks were selling a Mammut jacket for £95 reduced from £135 last time I looked (couple of months ago).

Love mine.

I could recommend something but I'm not sure they make it anymore and I'm worried you'd get angry.

😆
