I reckon the 308 cabriolet suffers proportion failure

I reckon the STW Forum suffers from perspective failure

Ugliest car I ever saw was in France. Renault Twingo or something. Looked like a frog.

[img] [/img]

Apparently quite popular with the Spanish youth a few years ago. They have a dash mounted handbrake and column gearshifter meaning nothing to get in the way when getting frisky in the front seats.

All the BMW's with an 'x' in the name are well gopping.

The air intake on this is so bad it's almost great though: 😆

[img] [/img]

They wisely seem to have left it off for the new version.

Holy Moly. Mark Datz in relevant-to-thread-AND-literate shocker! Granted, no language was used, but it's a start.

If a person were to take a collection of blind kittens at a heavy metal concert and ask them to design a car whilst stabbing them repeatedly with a sharpened stickle-brick, then the result would almost certainly be an improvement on the Rodius. Why why why?

That Pontiac that creg posted is without doubt the worst looking production car ever produced. Every time I am in Canada I just howl every time I see one. Truly abysmal!!!!

Anything by Perodua, KIA, any modern Lancia, the Audi Q7, any 2wd car made to look like a 4wd, the Merc R class, any modern Chevy.

I do rather like the idea of the Lancia Stratos Icecream Van from a couple of pages back. I'd like to be the person to build one of those for real and combine two of my favourite things.

I saw one of these on the road the other day. What a hideous combination of pastiche, fad, lumpiness and wishful thinking. Bring back the 205:

I wonder what the most popular car would look like. I suspect it would it be bland and conventional because most people have a preconceived idea about how a car should look, so anything radical would get the thumbs down, despite whether it's actually good looking.

It's interesting that when the original TT came out, it was roundly praised, despite looking pretty radically different from anything else that was about at the time. It did have very clean, minimalist lines, a big wheel at each corner and a very purposeful stance though. What it wasn't was bland.

I think that's part of the reason that horrible Peugeot makes me want to puke - it's a TT with a load of horrid blingy jewelery and none of the purity of line.

Yes I know but I felt you had been ignored over the sheer hideous abomination that has been foisted on the driving public by that machine.

That and the description on Uglycar was just too good to not give an airing 😉

By way of an apology (if it could be taken as such) I give you the Kia Mojave !!!

There have been some cruddy Alphas, the bigger sports saloons in particular. The 156? The current range, like the Mito, Brera, etc, are exquisite auto designs. The Audi A5 is about as flawless as a coupé can get, there's not a line out of place. In my opinion, anyway. Most modern BMW's are rather confused design-wise; that huge sticky-out bootlid spoiler thing on six series, (I think it is), is just awful. Ssankyong? Don't get me started on those...

When I was at university a fellow student had a mid 1990s MR2,

How the **** did he afford the insurance (let alone after it was "modified" with a body kit)?

I really like the Maxi. My Dad used to have one.

Whatever that hideously ugly Ford thing from a few years back was - the one with the truly awful bulging boot. It looked like a whale about to have triplets (there may be a picture of it above somewhere, bit it showed it from the front!).

That's the one! Thanks.

Surf-mat, your second picture captures the fecality of the design to perfection - just glad I didn't have a bigger screen. I can only imagine the designer had some eye problem where he saw the world in some sort of weird perspective opposite to a fish eye lens.

My mates Dad had a few cars that could be classed as wrong:
3ltr 2WD 6R4 - cool car but looked wrong being driven around the town.
MG Metro Turbo Pick-up (Ex race car) - fond memories of sitting in the back hurtling down the A43 to Oxford! Looked right at the track, wrong on the road.
Hustler 6 - again thought is was cool in the '80s, just looks wrong now.

We used to have one of these:

[img] [/img]

One of these:

[img] [/img]

And one of these:

[img] [/img]

When I was a kid. Prize to anyone who can correctly identify them (without looking at the sites or URLs).

You can laugh, but we never had a single issue of any kind in over 1/4m miles. Ever. And that was in the 80s. And we towed with them.

Then we got one of these, which went wrong a bit

[img] [/img]

Oh, just spotted that the name of the car is on one of those.. so that's not part of the prize.

I don't think the cube is ugly, it's not pretty it's just a cube, a cube with a wheel in each corner. Not imaginitive but it's a cube. The Chevy Camaro isn't pretty it's too American looking for me, it looks a bit all show no go.

Any Coupe version of a large car (certain cars look better with 5 doors, cars over a certain size / proportion should have 5 doors)

The new Laguna is upsetting (although the coupe is lovely)

[img] [/img]

The new Volvos look shite too.

[img] [/img]

Also the new Astra. It's just like someone typed "meh, a car" into CAD.

[img] [/img]

Last but not least is this ball of frog-eyed mega-blandness.

[img] [/img]

The Ka is cool, despite it being a bit "difficult" when it came out.

I hate the BMW X6- not only does it offend your eyes you know the person driving it is horrid. Ditto the X5, X3 and the X1 is just hte most pointless hateful car I can think off.

I kind of liked the last generation of them.

Horrid to drive, like. Specially the V70 which is like trying to helm a brontosaurus.

Spokescycles/DezB, you must have shxt in your eyes because there's nothing significantly wrong with any of those.

They may be a little too radical for you, but they certainly don't fall into the category of WRONG!

In the 70's, my mate's dad bought on of these, brand new, presumably because it was cheap. Their's was an estate version and it rusted to pieces in under five years and every time it got hot in the sun, the cheap plastic seats smelt like dog shit (no joke!)

Should I be worried that I've owned a couple of these.

Had a MkIII Escort, second car. It was ... difficult.

Also had a froggy Scorpio. Wasn't my first choice of motor and I wholly agree that it looks fugly, but it was one of the most comfortable drives I've ever known. Beautiful inside, proper driver's car so long as you don't have to get out and look at it.

The one single design point I hate most of all about the Ibiza is the way the headlights are chopped off at the outer edges. Just looks wrong, wrong, wrong.

These cars are the equivalent of the 1980's gold medallion - except when driven by a WAG of course, when they are probably just the only thing big enough to carry a full set of Louis Vuitton luggage, a filipino maid, a personal trainer and the dog's hairdresser - a ludicrous example of conspicuous consumption and utterly tasteless. They are hideous, especially in black, especially with tinted windows and especially with the stupid little grill behind the wheel arch done in chrome.

To paraphrase Ben Folds, these cars are driven only by people who "give no f*ck"

Someone must've said Fiat Multipla?

RE: Gold renault fuego, I worked in an Italian restaurant kitchen when I was 17 and the chef used to turn up in a Gold Fuego blasting James Bond theme on his cassette player. He'd pretend not to be James Bond all day, then we'd have to bump start The Fuego when he went home, the James bond Theme would kick back in and off he went. Repeat every day for 3 months!

He now hosts a pub quiz every monday. . always slips in one or 2 questions re. James bond! lol!

oh yeah, Chrysler PT Cruiser.. gopping indeed.
