[Closed] Carlsberg, the best place to work in the world ... Probably (was)

Sounds great, even if Carlsberg is just about the worst beer in Denmark.

I worked for IBM in Munich for a while. The vending machine was free which was an eye opener, what was more of an eye opener was that it stocked real beer.

In britain the thing would be empty in five seconds but in Germany it was jam packed full with glistening bottles of beer, all dewey with condensation.

I looked around and asked the guy who had been assigned to shadow me (he wasn't happy about it, trust me - our job was to move the resource back to the UK). He offered to explain things to me if I could identify, in English, some breakfast items he had been served. Germans called them something which I forget now but after examination they turned out to be hash browns.

So, my end of the bargain accomplished he explained that Germans treat work as work, and play time as playtime and never the twain shall meet. That is why the beer stacks were always full. I explained that it was possible to do all the work in work time but also to harvest work items ready for play time. He nodded and quickly accepted this philosphy and we racked up the bottles.

That was a good night.

We got very drunk and had lots of fun, not together you understand. German girls can be extremely accomodating and very direct.
