[Closed] car insurance scam

My father in law received a letter from his car insurers last week. They in turn had received a letter from someone 'saying and thanking my father in law for putting a note on their windscreen informing them that he had knocked their vehicle'

Problem being:

1] He was never where they had claimed the damage had occurred.[tesco car park]
2] He had never left a note as he couldn't have been there.

Seems like a scam to me, he thinks whoever this is has got his insurance details off his tax disc holder.

Just a load of crap law abiding people can do without.
