Oh so it’s a new forum ‘improvement’ as it reminds you to clear your cookies

I cleared cookies and history on iPad yesterday after a few issues, seems fine ATM. Will have to do the same on my Mac later..

Yup since the server moved locations it means some cookies are broke as they point at the old location. The fix is to delete the cookie for STW.

I did a complete Chrome clearance, I was logged out of everything and still can't get in to STW. I'll track down this solitary elusive STW cookie then and eat it.

On android chrome. I log in and it logs me straight out.

Cleared cookies ,site storage and closed tabs. Anything else I should try?

Tried to reply to this thread on my phone but apparently I need to be logged in to reply. Sent from my iPad.

Yes, have now and it's ok.

For Chrome users, enter this in the address bar - chrome://settings/siteData

That lists all cookies, search for singletrack and there's a bin icon to clear them.

Just re-logged in and ticked the 'remember me' box, but checking on the list of cookies on Chrome (chrome://settings/siteData), singletrackworld does not seem to have provided a cookie. At least it's not on the list under 'singletrackworld'.

Same here. Repeated failure to be able to log in on Android Chrome on both phone and tablet. Clearing data fixed it. That and overall performance getting very tedious.

<div></div>
Its under singletrackworld.com rather than www .singletrackworld. com and for some reason you have to scroll to it. Ctrl-F find doesn't work for me

Edge browser makes it a pain as clearing cookies involves clearing all cookies for all sites, not selective.

Chrome://settings/sitedata worked for me nice one.

Maybe put this post as a sticky with the date in the title.

I've entered chromesettingssite data in the address bar and it says it can't be found ,what am I doing wrong.

Have gone into site settings using the top 3 dots. Does that do the same thing?

You are missing the : and //. See above

Or from the three dot menu type 'content' into the search box and choose content settings. Cookies will be there

For me on Chrome desktop on Ubuntu the address is chrome://settings/content/cookies then click on "See all cookies and site data" which does take you to the siteData page but trying directly doesn't go to the same point for me.

Now click in the search box at top right and enter singletrackworld and you should see the list being filtered as you type

Yes..

Hop on left leg whilst kicking out with the right leg, do this twice then repeat sequence but spin anti-clockwise whilst pointing at the Sky and then perform four left eye blinks, two right, three left, seven right. Place left leg on the ground, open legs, spread arms open on the floor resting on your palms and rotate head through knees and kiss your ass goodbye..

HTHs

That was really hard work.  Chrome on Android.

I finally got it cleared it by:

Open the three dots whilst on the login page.

Press on the i button on the top bar.

Click site settings to clear and reset.

Immediately get out of Singletrack or the cookie comes back.

Close down Chrome.

Restart and all seems to be working.

Yep, that's the only way that worked for me. All cookies, all sites for all time. I'd like to find a gentler way to do it on my other android device, though.

@theotherjonv - Most browsers keep login details separate from cookies, it's the "Would you like to save the login details for XXXX" dialog that pops up when you log in to a new site or change password. Assuming you click OK to that dialog. What you'll lose are things like shopping cart contents and other state information.

Incognito tab works on chrome android until someone works out how to clear just the STW cookies effectively (I know how to see and clear just the data for STW but clearing it doesn't work).

im the opposite, cant log in on phone so having to use chromebook…….

Now it's the opposite, can't log in on chromebook but can my phone. I do most of my browsing on chromebook tho.  Haven't really suffered too badly from this mess of an upgrade so far but now I'm starting to get a (probably irrational) hatred of these adverts, and it's pissing me off when I think that each unwanted advert I see is actually making them more money....

Always been a supporter of the forum and firmly In the 'give em time to sort it' camp but I'm not going to keep trying to log on and view more adverts every time, losing a bit of patience now.....

@whitestone

On two financial websites I've had to go through the whole 'this is not a recognised device' followed by sending a code to my registered phone number that i have to put in alongside username and password to be able to access my account.

Other non-financial (like my online physio, Facebook, Job Boards) it's just re-entering user names and passwords, but I haven't got directly into any of my 'member' sites since clearing cookies.

May be i cleared something else at the same time but either way it's a PITA

couldnt log in on Chrome (Chromebook), cleared STW cookies, logged in.

Cant log in on Android phone. Cleared STW cookies, still cant log in.

Not going to clear all, I have 100s if not 1,000s of cookies I dont want to junk just because STW have ****** things up again.

Imagine trying to explain to your gran she has to clear her cookies to be able to log on to Mumsnet today. FFS.

I too cannot log in on my Android phone.

To clear the cookies on Android I went to the singletrack website, clicked on the padlock in the address bar, then on ‘SITE SETTINGS’, then ‘CLEAR & RESET’, which claims to ‘clear all local data, including cookies and reset all permissions for this website’. I said ‘yeah!’ and did it, but it still won’t let me log in.

I also looked through the full list of sites for which I have cookies (three dots, then Settings, Site settings, All sites, then scroll...) in case there were other variations on singletrackworld.com or gofar or something, but couldn't find anything lingering.

I don’t really want to clear all cookies from all websites, that would be a pain, and I’ve no reason to think that that would work when doing it just for STW doesn’t…

This is a pain, I don't want to browse in incognito mode the whole time!

I'm not clearing mine either. There's too much other stuff that I don't want to lose.

I can sense a flounce coming on along with a dropping of my P. I'm not paying for this.

One would assume so.  I've flagged it up to Mark that it's still not fixed.

Just an idea - for those who aren't able to reset it, try clear the local site cookies and then immediately closing the page.

There's a cookie management plugin for chrome 'EditThisCookie' - then you can remove STW specific cookies (I had to remove them all picking session related ones didn't help). Then, finally I could log back in.*

*Desktop, not sure there is a mobile equivalent

One thing I’ve noticed, reading through this thread, is that all of the issues appear to be solely with Android and Chromebooks. It’s not an issue I’ve experienced, the only issue is with daft little things like new sentences not automatically starting with a capital. First world problems, eh! 😜

Chrome on iMac for me.

Just got logged out and unable to log in so had to delete the cookies again despite doing it this morning.

Looks like the new server is possibly still sending data associated with the old one.

Chrome on a windows 8 tablet, cleared cookies, still can't log in.

Android phone, running Edge, I can't find how to clear cookies, so I can't log in. This is a joke, if it wasn't so sad.

Every time there's an update, something else breaks.

I just switched to a different browser and cleared everything there so as not to mess up my regular stuff for the moment

Android phone, running Edge, I can’t find how to clear cookies, so I can’t log in

Home top left, three dots bottom right, select settings, privacy, Clear browsing data

edit: still takes 3 edits to get rid of the html  though

mean?

In Edge?

I've already cleared the cache and it didn't help.

chrome on w10 and chrome on os x 10.12 not logging in.

clearing the site specific cookies does work.

chrome>3 dots top right>setting>advanced>privacyandsecurity>contentsettings>cookies>seeallcookiesandsitedata.

from there scroll down and delete the singletrackworld.com cookie.

Up until now the update has only been slightly annoying- gboard not working properly.

But not being able to log in will force plenty away. I've tried clearing cookies for the site several times  but still have to resort to incognito.

I find this site great when it's working but it's really hitting the shit now.

Thanks, but what does

‘Home top left

If you are already on a webpage then there is an icon if a house top left. If you can see 3 dots bottom right then you are already there

If you've already cleared those cookies then I don't know though. It worked in edge for me

This is basic stuff. Did anyone do ANY testing on this at all??? It's a f++king joke...

I've had to login in incognito mode and I've cancelled my subscription.

Bye STW, it's been a rollercoaster ride but I'm getting off now. Can anyone recommend another vaguely bike related forum which has a similar level of knowledge and wit?

I'm posting this under my wife's username as I can't get in on my phone.  I've tried following the advice above for android phones and it's not working.  Like other above, I don't want to clear every single cookie on my phone.

So, if anyone is on here who can sort out a pro rata refund for the P that I now can't use, that would be very much appreciated.  I've had enough of this place of late.  At £1.50 a month, I currently feel like I'm being ripped off!

By the way, the account I can't log into is Onzadog.

Sorry, but Ive had enough. Can only log in incognito. I'm no IT wizard. I've put up with it being sooo slooooow for so long, trying to breathe deeply and calmly while I wait for a page to load. I don't want to pay for this any more. And Ive been a subscriber since somewhere around issue 2.

@richmars - I might have forgotten a step.  Once you get to the last page where you can clear the cache and cookies there is a drop down at the top right where you have to select 'all time' otherwise it will only do the last couple of hours which isn't enough.  Sorry about that, it caught me first time round

I get the impression that whoever is in charge of this website update dispute working hard and putting effort in is not experienced in this field. Lots of the errors that have occurred seem to be in the realm of inexperience.

Somone is working hard but doesn't have the backup of a experienced college.

Numpty question alert. Clearing stw cookies on my phone hasn't worked, even closing the page immediately after, but might the fact that I've logged in on another device (e.g. work PC) recently be an issue? I'm using incognito mode to log in at the mo.

Thanks in advance.

@roger_mellie - cookies are specific to a particular browser on a device. Even if you have two browsers on your computer, the cookies that one uses can't be seen by the other.
