I think its something that lads really dont want to discuss. Head in sand springs to mind.

Sypmptoms include,
Difficulty in passing urine, going for a piss,

Slow pissing, and not feeling empty,

Lower back pain,

Weight loss,

and more, sadly its the hidden cancer and [ONLY[b] affects men, as women dont have a prostrate gland,

Blood tests and a simple examination by the DR will tell you if youre at risk, haveing a member of the family with Prostrate cance also affects the possible results.

If in doubt get checked out, before its to late, itas a long and slow debilaitateing disease, and also makes your bones brittle , and more susceptible to breaking.

I have very personal experience of Prostrate cancer, from a family member.

grynch how old are you if you dont mind me asking?

Post long ride I've always wondered what continual pressure on that area does for the risks?

Going through a very painful family experience with this one at the moment. For anyone feeling embarassed about talking about or getting checked - don't be so stupid! If you can catch it early then the prognosis is a hell of a lot better. If only there were the funding this cancer really needs get some decent screening....

Project, it's prostate, not prostrate. :o)
Just remember to feel your balls regularly, as well.

and hey, while we're talking about male cancers...

no matter what your age - check your balls. very easy to do and very easy to deal with if caught early.
I found a lump a couple of years ago, which after the offending item was removed tests showed it was testicular cancer.

either you found a lump, or one feels bigger than the other/is sore get it checked by a doc.

I've just given myself a self-examination right here at my desk.
All seems in order. ๐Ÿ™‚

Seeing the doc this afternoon as it goes. I don't think its prostate-related, but the bone that I sit on (my saddle) has become a bit lumpy and awkward. I think its from commuting without padded shorts but I'm gonna ask the poor doctor to have a squeeze of my perenium. Poor bloke / woman.

hora... I was 54 in january... doc started monitoring for cancer at about age 48 , due to high PSA (prostate specific antitgen ) count in my blood.

I had a multiple biopsy(16 punctures) done march 2007 and they discovered cancer then. I did a little shopping for a surgeon ( no NHS to deal with over here ) and had surgury in May 2007.

I asked my doc about cycling and numbness after a long ride but he said that it is not related.

"I've just given myself a self-examination right here at my desk."

testicles or prostate?

if it's the latter, your work colleagues must be very tolerant.

While you're at it check for odd patches of discoloured skin, just seen consultant re: skin cancer, awaiting op and treatment.

Use sunscreen when riding it's easy to cause a problem without even knowing it!

This can be carried out during or just after a shower, since the
scrotum is soft and relaxed.

Place your scrotum in the palm of your hand
Look for changes in size or weight (Remember it is common
for one testicle to be larger than the other and for one to hang
slightly lower)
Gently roll each testicle individually between your thumbs
and fingers using both hands
You may feel a soft tube at the top and back of the testicle,
this the epididymis which carries and stores the sperm. It may
be quite tender normally to the touch
Feel each testicle, each should be smooth without any lumps,
or swellings.

I had a bout of prostatitis last year - sort of came from nowhere (boom tish - igmc). I had been unwell with a recurrence of glandular fever but was feeling over that, went for a ride and it was super uncomfortable, within an hour i was in A&E with a mega temp and basically disintegrating. Seems i have some weird prostatitis thing. Anyway long story short, for a while they mentioned "C" then decided it wasn;t then after the long line of men had finished putting their fingers up my bum i was declared fit and healthy by way of a strong dose of antibiotics. Since then, no issues as such until last week when it all felt odd but nothing has come of it (boom tish again).
But my dad had PC so i am very wary of it and its always good to be one step ahead when monitoring your own health.

I read somewhere that frequent ejaculation helps prevent PC

Apparently it doesn't matter whether the ejaculation is the result of sexual contact with another person, or "self-induced"

Most people on here appear to be well-protected, then

Had a full body Skin Cancer check this week as I have a Mole on my face that disappeared and then reappeared over a couple of months.

History of Sun Burn when I was a nipper plus spend a lot of time in the Sun now so felt it was worthwhile.

Scan came out clear but the doc recommended that I should have one yearly and give myself a look over once a month for anything that's a bit weird, especially on the the soles of your feet and between toes! Apparently not many people look there and that's where the nastiest skin cancers hide.

While you're all at it, make sure to have a feel of the wifes boobs for lumps too. I'm sure you need no excuses ๐Ÿ˜‰

Had a full body Skin Cancer check this week

what does that involve, if you don't mind me asking? just looking, or tests?

I have tonnes of moles which one doctor was intrigued by and just liked looking at them. Weirdo. But I'm always conscious of them and one is occasionally itching like **** recently so I'm gonna ask him to have a butcher's.

mrsf - i'll be playing doctor later ๐Ÿ˜‰
