Me and the missus are thinking of getting a chromebook to use in our camper van - our plan is to download movies onto an SD card and watch them on that.
Does this work or do you need to be constantly online to be able to use a chromebook?
If this does work do Chromebooks have enough poke to be able to watch h265 videos?
Anyone care to recommend one - bigger screen ideal with 1080p - could we get something for 300 quid?
yes you can do it on chromebook.
Simplest is just to drag the video file into a chrome address bar (there's a native video player within chrome)
If in doubt, take a USB and vid file with you to dixons and have a go.
BTW if you have doubts theres now a port of VLC to chromeos that you can install as a native app (basically a local extension, it doesnt need to be online) to play even weirder movie file types if necessary

Awesome. Anyone know which ones can play the more computationally demanding video types h265 for example?
Seems like you can play h265 on some chromebooks, but I can't find a list of those that are quick enough. The reviews on the players just seem to be either "It works" or "This doesn't work 1 star"...
Has anyone got an Acer R13?
Nice spot on VLC Stoner.... fairly big install though... 250Mb!
