I'm going on holiday soon and I dont want to be disturbed by e-mails from work during my time off. If they need me they can call me.

I have looked at the various menus on the blackberrry and cant find how to just have it as a phone.

Is this possible at all?

Or can you take the SIM card and stick in an ordinary mobile?

Sorry if these are numpty questions but I dont have a scooby about such matters.

Cheers

S

Go to the profiles, and select "phone only". That ought to do it.

Otherwise, it can be done other ways, but I can't remember what I did to get there..!

Turn data services off, settings->network rings a bell. My wife does it at night, turns her email off at 5.30. Calls, SMS etc all work just no email.

go to your Inbox
press the blackberry button
scroll down & select Options
scroll down & select Email Settings
if you have multiple email accounts, select the account called Desktop (assuming you have a Blackberry Server at work)
Where it says Send Email to Handheld choose No
Press the blackberry button and select Save.

Has does email disturb you as opposed to getting a call? Don't tell me you have an alert tone for a new email? If someone needs to get hold of you desperately presumably they'd call anyway so I just leave email on and browse through it if I get bored.

I guess if you have the e-mail switched off, it removes the temptation to have a look and start working.

Turn it off, pour beer, feet up, job done.
