Probably a duplicate thread but why does this site keep asking to use data storage on my phone?

iPhone 11. Ios16.1.1. Will update to 16.3 and see if still occurring.

I used to know this, back when I was a developer. Basically a website can store a certain amount of data locally on the client device. Normally cookies and that sort of thing. However there is a built in limit in size. May be different for different browsers.

1.1GB does seem excessive though.

Couple of pointers here...

Thanks all.

Mark was alerted to this last night, he asked for it to be looked into. Hopefully, it’ll be fixed now or soon will be. @jeffl thanks for that too.

Thanks. Upgraded to latest iOS and problem stopped. I wondered if it might be a request to actually grant a different level of access to my phone

there was a thread a while back where people had noticed STW was storing a huge amount of data locally as cookies/cache - plenty of people had >1gb and some >2 😂 I just put it down to another unique quirk of this place 🤪

I cleared stw data yesterday when it was 650mb, I've just looked at it and it's up to and past that at 688mb today and I've not been near the gifs thread. Stw seems to be a right data hog, I'd be interested to know why.

It's not a bug, it's a feature.
