[Closed] Can an airsoft gun kill a pigeon

My maintenance team have spent the Christmas break putting anti pigeon measures in place.

I have promised them an air rifle for the final part of the mission. Unfortunately they are illegal but an airsoft is a grey area.

Will an upgraded air soft sniper rifle or an automatic have enough power to take our a pigeon.

The automatic would be good for our hornet bet problem too, which is still ongoing.

No, it won't. You may injure it if you manage to score a head shot but at a max muzzle velocity of 350fps with a 0.2mm projectile you just won't have the oomph to get through the feathers.
(I ran airsoft sites for a living for 7 years...)

Air rifles are illegal? Really?

How about a black widdow? That'll bring down a flying rat.

There are legal restrictions for shooting the pidgeons yourself. Its madness.

Best bet is to be discreet and just do it yourself. It can be a very lengthy and expensive job to get professionals in to do it.

As far as I'm aware you can buy a .22 air rifle without a license in the UK which should kill a pigeon if you hit it in the heart.

The problem is, you need a decent marksman to ensure a clean kill so as not to make the animal suffer needlessly.

Pay the experts and get the job done properly.

Buying or owning an air rifle is not a problem. I am pretty sure the problems arise when clearing vermin from places of work etc.

Cheaper and more effective to ask somebody you know with an air rifle to spend a morning clearing them when nobody is about. Feral pigeons aren't easily spooked, so you can easily get within 20-30 foot of them.

Hmmm, tricky one. Is the pigeon on a conveyor belt?

Currently based in Thailand was previously Mongolia. If it was Mongolia I could have just got an ak47 from a farmer.

Air rifles here require a gun license. A black widow or diablo is on the cards.

I did Google black widow Thailand but as you can imagine it didn't come up with anything relating to killing pigeons, foreigners being bumped off for their money on the other hand...

Thailand huh? Can't you hire some lady of the night to take them out with pingpong balls? ๐Ÿ˜‰
I joke... Seriously, a .22 or .177 air gun does not need to hit a pigeon in the heart to kill. My childhood was well spent with a variety of break-barrel, under-lever and pre-charged air rifles and took out many many different vermin bigger and hardier than pigeons... Maybe it's worth applying for a license if they are a real problem?

Head shots are always best on small animals. Pigeons have a massive breast bone that the wing muscles attach to, it's big enough to easily deflect a pellet away from hitting something critical.

A BB gun won't kill a Peregrine falcon either

Kudos100 I tried two of those rougers down the local range and once in the field they are shit ๐Ÿ˜† the munty I took out was ruined so much damage for .357 and for the same cost brought a .243 and .308 had some room on my ticket ๐Ÿ˜‰

As too op if your in the UK get a theoben rapid in .177 and learn to use it and learn the law on pest control for sub 12ftlbs and when you can pop a 10 shots into the size of a 5p peice at 30m again and again with out missing you might be ready. And if you shoot pigeons without killing them in the first shot or with insufficiently power rifles you stand a good chance of getting arrested for animal cruelty and if one pellet goes outside of your land boundary you stand a chance of being charged with fire arms offences as the law has gone mentally strict due to pychos and idiots

To rid that of pigeons you probably need this

Wasn't impressed at the people feeding the flying rats and flying rats with webbed feet down at the water front in Worcester on Xmas day - they don't need encouraging.
