looking to go camping this weekend, but the temperature by the coast, and our usual camp site of robin hoods bay is a lot less than in land, so any recommendations for a good campsite inland north yorks?

one with a shop on site, or very close by would be best, and a children's play area, or close to stuff for young kids to do would be good as well (that's why we like robin hoods bay, rockpooling, paddling etc all right on your doorstep) ..

cheers
Steve

THere are 3 or four campsites in ROsedale that you might want to look at, great place to go for grownupas and biking but not sure about kids though

There's a good one in Rosdedale if that's not too far way from the coast.

I've never stayed there personally but know some that have and rate it.

There's another one in Goathland, that I stayed at many years ago, from recollection it was quite basic though.

Try Cropton forest as well. Sometimes have organised stuff for kids, and a small sub branch if the Cropton Brewery for parents

+2 for the Rosedale one. Shop, close to pubs etc, top riding (if you're taking the bike) and really good facilities.

There's the Robin Hood campsite in Slingsby, nr Malton too. Has a play area, little shop and electric hookups. Malton is 5 mins down the road for bigger supermarket.

You've got York and Scarborough in either direction and Castle Howard on the doorstep.

We often camp on the site behind the White Swan in Newton upon Rawcliffe nr Pickering. It's usually pretty quiet which is perfect.

It's a decent pub that serves proper pub grub and a decent pint. There is no shop but Pickering is only 5 minutes drive away.

It's only a shortish walk over the fields to Levisham station on the NYMoors railway.

There is loads of riding in the area and woods where kids can go exploring/den building etc.
