Anyone know of any campsite around aviemore that allows a fire, or has firepits?

I'll be taking my portable fire pit/bbq with fire bricks underneath to stop scorching the earth. But the sites I've looked at (Rothiemurchus and Glenmore) are no fires allowed. Rothiemurchus allows bbq, but ask to put out once finished cooking.

Would be bringing my own wood.

Going up tomorrow for the weekend, will be 4 of us and will enjoy sitting round a fire enjoying a few beers after hard days walking

Have had fires before at Glenmore but just down by the loch rather than by the tents. Never got hassled about them even though we had sacks of wood... Other than that not sure anywhere actually 'permits' them.

You'll be fine on the beach at Glenmore. The campsite manager and his wife have a reputation for imposing the rules to the letter. This works in your favour when it comes to fires on the beach, as it's outwith the campsite boundary.

Say hello to the biffer on the Specialized Fat Boy if you do come to Glenmore.

There's nothing nicer than strolling or riding along the beach at Loch Morlich and looking at all the piles of partially burnt wood and litter.

Fire pits are something we don't do (well) in this country. It would be much better if sites provided dedicated spots.

Think we're gonna stick to Rothiemurchus, wife likes the look of the site better and hopefully they won't charge us for our tarp gazebo thing like Glenmore probably would.

We'll take the fire pit with us to use as bbq, maybe we'll pop a log on once the food is cooked, maybe not. Maybe we'll just cook all night!

At least no fire will slightly improve how bad we'll smell.

I see it all the time, someone builds a pit and next person lights fire a couple of feet away.

Love a campsite with fire pits on the pitches, red squirrel and Comrie croft both do and it adds to that cosy wild camping feeling but with facilities nearby if needed.
