Looking for a place to camp for a week, June 29th onwards.

Anyone got suggestions/recommendations for places to base ourselves for a week with a 2-man tent, within the rough radius given in the title?

We are 2 country-loving folk finding ourselves wanting a week of Peace and Quiet.

Beaches are best, but access to great walks/rides and woodland heartily considered.

Smaller and quieter is better, and we're looking to come-in less than £25 a night, which seems a bit steep but is common in the bigger parks.

Thanks!

Most of England will be within 200 miles of Northampton. I know of a lovely site in Norfolk.

Ermmm, did you mean 20 mile radius?

A 200 mile radius around Northampton gets you to the likes of:
Plymouth, the Lake District, all of Wales, some of Belgium and France!

Arguably that's still too close to Northampton

Oi, Northampton may not be the cultural centre of the universe, but its better than some places! 🙂

We're thinking south-coast of England?

Can you tell us a bit more about the site in Norfolk, Tom B?

Thanks for the replies 🙂

Some lovely spots in Norfolk, anywhere between Holme and Cromer would be good for a quiet trip out.

Three cliffs bay is indeed fantastic - just be warned that it is actually on a pretty hefty slope. If you get there early and get the best spots (on the edge of the cliff...) it's great. Get a spot at the top of the hill and be prepared for everyone in your tent to end up occupying the bottom third of your tent by the morning...

Yep - agree with jca - obv not a prob in a caravan.

For Norfolk, it has to be Wells-next-the-sea - the extensive Pinewoods all along the beach and dunes all the way to Holcombe (sp) are beautiful and tranquil - and there's an awesome rope swing too 😉

but give me 3 Cliffs any day

Manor Farm, nr Cromer in Norfolk is OK, clean facitilites, easy walking into Cromer but feels like country, though there are (half?) hourly trains around the hill your on .. about 1.4 mile away but it is a slow branch line and one evening some fairly noise, low level jet manouvres .. enjoyed it lots none the less.

not quite coastal but close: Roundhill or Holllands wood in New Forest (pricey and Hollands has traffic noise) You get lots of cute free ranging animals and tent raiding squirrels, jackdaws, donkeys and ponies.

WoWo in Sussex, though not really coastal.

Tom's field camping in purbeck was pretty nice too .. walk over the hill to the cliff and t-mobile told me I was in France!!!
EDIT: in purbeck you'd also have the luxury of Charliethebikemonger being a short ride/walk away

Wells-next-the-Sea? Isn't that where the nudist beach is??

Seals?

No, really, this is all great stuff, but what's with the nuddy beaches? Did I tell you lot about that trip on a Wharram cat in Greece by mistake....?

Hmmmmm.

Non-nuddy beaches also accepted, perhaps preferred.

Ta!

Gower is a great call, or as an alternative what about coming to Dartmoor?

Just a smidgen over 200 miles. Great scenery, walking and biking, some lovely pubs and not too far from the coast and you never need to go far to beat the crowds. Not many campsites within the bounds of the park itself but plenty on the periphery and you can legally wild camp up here if you don't mind roughing it a bit.

Dartmoor - hmmmm, will "pitch" it to my partner.

I'd be nearly home - I'm from Truro-way!
