Been wondering the exact same thing myself. Research has led me to here. More specifically this thread.

In a nutshell the answer is very little. An EHU purchased in the UK will work in France - the voltage is the same. You may need an adaptor on some older sites.

I bought a 3 socket EHU with RCD protection from Aldi a couple of weeks ago. If you have a look around on the forum mentioned above you will find plenty of recommendations.

Did it a few years ago; no transformer needed, I think we needed a UK-Euro adapter for the campsite connecter, though

You will need a mains hook up cable: £25

a trailing socket to get it back to 3pin UK: £7

In some rare cases, the campsite wont have an IP rated hookup socket and you might need to convert from a standard European socket to your hookup lead. However I would expect a campsite like that to have adapters for loan as its not that common anymore. £4.50

You could also get a UK adapter for the hookup and then just use a standard travel adapter. This has the benefit of turning your hookup lead into an outdoors extension lead when back in blighty: £4.50

I doubt youd be allowed to just use your own extension cable and a hookup adapter as its not a weatherproof connection. Europe is 230v so you'll be fine with your current equipment.

All from here, or eBay or any other camping caravan supplier

No site has ever asked for me to show them my RCD (I have one in the camper van). Im pretty certain they have RCDs at the distribution/isolation boxes.
