Get a courier bag, Timbuk 2 esque... mind gone blank on other brands!! They are cool, can be colourful and you can reuse as any bag afterwards rather than guff looking "girlie" bag!

You think you have a say in anything at all? Just deal with it, try to steer her towards sensible colours and transfer it all to your own bag when you are out and about without her. All us other dads understand and won't laugh at you as we also carried the same baby bags.

We got given a Kath Kidson (or is it kitson? whatever) one which has cowboys on it which is a good compromise.

Here's a brown one we're selling. We bought it on the bay but then the wife found a new one cheap that matched the pram, therefore this ones for sale.

Its a courier style bag, all the cool parents know Skip Hop rule ๐Ÿ˜‰

Black Radley baby bag here. Everything fits and it helps feed the wife's Radley habit.

Because its black it just looks like a courier bag when I sling it over my shoulder.

Baba bing bag which actually gets used as the changing mat is good and detachable. Pockets alright and will hold a bit. Wife bought a red spotty trendy thing which is useless an we normally used the daddy bag instead.

Messenger bag would be ok but need to find a decent changing mat and have a separate area for waste bags!

I think the key thing you're looking for when she says a 'Pram Bag' is one that will attach to the pram handles with little buckled loops at the bottom of the shoulder straps.

have a look around for an essential product that you routinely buy that is offering a free bag with your purchase..

job done..

otherwise you are in effect, buying a handbag.. like a lady

EDIT: lhabitantdepointe has beaten me to it

Just tell the Mrs you're getting a nanny who can carry everything. It'll work a treat.

Father of a 4 year old and 18 month old here, 2 bits of advice:

1. you don't need a baby-specific bag. Anything with a few sections and a large opening will do. Courier bag ideal.

2. If your Mrs is dead set on something that she likes, get your own "dad & baby mission" bag. It will save you from having to trail round with all the shite that overflows Mrs' handbag into the baby bag. In my case up to and including manky items of fruit that never got eaten, tampons, used tissues, make-up, eyelash curlers, really EFFING sharp nail scissors etc.

My missus has just had our second child. I look forward to dusting off my man bag, and slinging it over my shoulder with pride.

we use a very old camelback mule - it's about 10 years old and is way bigger than the new ones

We just have small rucksacks, rather than anything that attaches to the pram. once you have a lightweight ppshchair rather than the massive newborn pram (3-6 months or so), something that you can carry gubbins in without tipping the pushchair over is dead useful.

The first three months are just "orifice management" as a colleague once said to me. After that it gets easier.

So are there features that Babybags tend to have over other courier type jobbies e.g. NF messenger that make them any better?

Usually have a changing mat, often have areas for storing wet/dirty stuff and a pocket that is insulated for keeping things hot or cold.

That timbuk2 bag looks interesting though.

Agree that girls bags on dads just looks wrong

Try [url= http://www.angelswithdirtyfacesuk.com/index.htm ]null. The websites a bit clunky but the bags are good quality.

Edit: The bags are better than my links ๐Ÿ˜•

Firstly, you're a dad now. It doesn't matter what colour, or how girly it is. You have reproduced making you a man - no one can accuse you of mincing about with a gay man bag.

Secondly, a previous poster suggested getting your own bag. This is a brilliant idea. It means you don't have to worry about trying to find butt cream, nappies, spare baby jump suits etc. when you suddenly find out you're baby sitting. Just remember to restock it when you use something.

I used an ordinary rucksack, but had one with a separate shoe compartment at the bottom. 5 disposables, small Sudo, full size wipes, nappy sacks, hand sanitizer and a changing mat all fit in the lower section. All your regular stuff or shopping goes in the top. Can't remember what brand it was, but just a regular backpack.

This is a year-old thread resurrected by a spam post. I think we'll close it there.
