I have another idea for a project...for which I'd need some leather patches with slots and/or holes cut in, like these:

Am I likely to be able to buy this and what would it be called? I guess I could make them but I'd make a **** of it!

Be careful to explain exactly why you're buying the thigh-length leather boots to the nice lady at the counter.

I presume you can't ask Carradice? What's the project?
Could you make your own from an old belt? It doesn't seem that complicated if you've got a good blade.

I want something stiff and strong (Vicar) and CBA getting into leather-working and tools etc.
