If I buy an item from Germany on Ebay, am I looking at currency conversion fees?

Wondering if linking my Nationwide credit card (fee free transactions in Europe) to my Paypal account would get round this? Or whether Paypal will sting me either way?

It's built into the currency conversion that eBay/PP do when you pay - there's not a separate charge, they just skim a bit off.

Apparently it is possible to get Paypal to charge your card in the foreign currency. So this would avoid Paypal's poor exchange rate.
It seems this option is rather well hidden in the Paypal settings. See this: http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/avoid-great-paypal-exchange-rate-rip-off-1645171

When you are making a payment in another currency, look for a link named something like "Other Conversion Options". That should let you change this.

CraigW, that seems to be exactly what I was after but was struggling to find - thank you.
