Does anyone know how long (typically) it takes to get plans approved by Building Regulation people?

So busy with a work project that I forgot to ask my architect before he went on hols. (duhhh) Planning permission has been granted. I think my architect said that he'll be doing 'working drawings' next, which will then be submitted for Building Regs approval. Just wondered how long Council's normally take to approve these things.

(not sure if it's relevant, but the Bldg Regs application is for the addition of a pitched 'hipped' roof to an existing flat roofed 2 storey extension)

in my experience it can take 4 - 6 weeks for domestic application
speak to your local building control officer as i think you start work under a building notice where the bco comes and inspects as work progresses which is no problem as long as the builder works in accordance with current building regs
