I'm planning my big holiday for the year, and it's a toss-up between Ecuador/ Peru/ Chile (one of) or the Philippines. Weird choice, but there you go.
The thing is, I went to Costa Rica last year, and while it was very good and really interesting, it was much more expensive than I'd expected; essentially it seemed like US prices for meals, accommodation etc - especially compared to my experiences in SE Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore etc).
Based on your experiences, wow do Ecuador/ Peru/ Chile stack up in terms of prices for food and accommodation?
