Planning on travelling by train to southern France next month: we're looking at an overnight in Paris, but so far all of the hostels/budget places we've contacted say 'no bikes'. I know Premier Inn in the UK are great for allowing bikes in the rooms, but what about French budget chains like F1? Anyone have any experience of budget places in Paris, not tooo far from the stations, that are OK with bikes in the room (or can offer a lock-up of some sort)?

It's probably not central enough but I've stayed here, it's on the avenue Verte route.

Underground car park with roller shutter, bike hoops in the car park

(Ah, just seen it's a stop over whilst passing through so probably no good)

Not in Paris itself but Châlons-en-Champagne is on the TGV in to Paris (about an hour out).

The Ibis Styles right in the centre has an underground car park and I think some bike stands in it.They have friendly staff who will happily answer questions like that though.

We’ve stayed a few times returning from skiing or MTB in the Alps with bikes or skis on the car.

Châlons is a nice town to spend a day in too.

If you’re travelling by train to Southern France, then unless you’re getting the slow train, won’t your bikes need to be bagged? I’m which case, it shouldn’t be a problem anywhere?

I stayed at F1 Gennevilliers in Paris with a folding bike. No probs. Locked it up outside, in a secure yard...

Cheap rooms but a few miles from city centre

Could you get one of those bags they use in Japanese trains and just pretend it's some luggage ?

Can’t talk about Paris but we’ve stored out bikes in a campanile before about 1hr from the tunnel (I forget the name) . The spiral staircase were a nightmare with my Capra to get upto the room but still possible!

We found an airBnB with a lockable yard. We parked the car with bikes on in there for three days, hidden from the street and any other eyes.
It was only about 30 mins in on the Metro.
