Well, it would appear my most recent ban (must be close to double figures by now) was due to my attempts to debunk a conspiracy theory (oh the irony)

For some reason, that tickled me silly and got me to thinking of a few things that I never planned which were bucket list material:

~ Paragliding in Bulgaria, over flat land with no lift, saw an eagle below, so followed it as I knew it'd instinctively find the thermals (earlier that week on my maiden flight in Bulgaria, I managed to crash into the fence of Bulgarian Military base and get my Paraglider thoroughly tangled in brambles, also nearly took the roof off a nunnery!!)

~ Tubing down a river that emerged from a large cave in Guatemala at sunset... hundreds upon hundreds of bats came out of the cave as darkness began to fall, skimming just above he water and flitting within millimeters of me, their skill and navigation in the air a thing of wonder.

~ Hiring a tandem kayak in Honduras with an Irish dude who couldn't swim and navigating a canal which was said to contain a huge crocodile. When we got to the sea, did some snorkelling and came face to face with a big old Moray Eel hiding under a rock.

So, those were random unplanned events...

Things I'd like to do before I die:

~ Fly a wingsuit

~ Have a go down a Bob Sleigh run

~ Ride an Ostrich

So, in a similar vein, what are 3 things you've done at random and 3 you'd like to do?

Fly a wingsuit

I suggest you leave that one to last.

Oddly, I know exactly why you were banned, and it wasn't that.

Also - good thread, fair play.

you think you know cougar but there are powers at work here that you'll never fully understand.

I have a slight feeling that I may take up really, really dangerous sports when I get to about 70

Someone I know from another forum did just that (not quite 70) to do this

~ Fly a wingsuit

We wondered why we hadn't heard from him for a while. Turned out he had a disagreement with the ground on his second or third flight and spent a month or so in a nice Swiss hospital.

Can't think of any random thing at the minute but I have a massive bucket list in my head that I'm slowly working through. Three things off of that (not necessarily in order.)
1. Win a world championship
2. Get a land speed record
3. Do a dakar.

Things I've done that I didn't plan:

Getting married to childhood sweetheart 15 yrs after leaving school. And a good 2yrs since I saw her last.

Getting a job mtb guiding in the Alps. Met ace people, rode some ace trails.

Flying to America on my own at 18 to work on an American summer camp. Knew no one loved every minute. Met ace people. And some Americans. 😉

Things I want to do:

I want to learn to fly. A plane though none of that wing suit shenanigans.

I want to go to Iceland and get as close to a volcano as I dare.

I want to learn to white water kayak. This is actually a work in progress.

Haven't got three I can think of at the moment but I'm absolutely terrified of flying(have to take Tamazipan to fly) but I'd love to try a skydive.
Going to wait till the kids have grown up.

Just got to find a way up there without flying.

I want to go to Iceland and get as close to a volcano as I dare.

Try Sicily - bus from Catania to near the top of Etna, then another to the top (used to be a chairlift, destroyed in an eruption), then out for a walk inside a smoking crater. 10000 ft up and stones to hot too hold comfortably.
[img] [/img]
Close enough?

I've also flown a loop the loop in a Tiger Moth, WW1 design open cockpit biplane.

At Brands one day a guy wandered over and said that he'd watched us driving (I was the "other driver " with Russ Swift) and would we like to sit in on the flying display. So we sat in with a couple of stunt flying champs as they did their stuff over the race circuit. Heading vertically backwards with the exhaust smoke swirling around the prop felt a little odd.

Getting picked up hitch hiking by a lady who... .

Sitting on the beach and realising there was a good weather forecast for the Alps for one day, which was tomorrow. Driving up to catch the last tramway of the day, walking up to the Gouter in a snow storm then having a perfect day for Mont Blanc.

And many more but those are the first three random events to come to mind. Three future ones is harder, I've done most of the things I wanted to do and I'm no longer in any state to do the things I'd have liked to have done younger.

Modest ones are helping junior on his way in life, learning to play and sing a few more tunes I like, and doing another Compostel walk with Madame.

Hmm, maybe only one thing on my "accidental bucket list" material.

- experience weightlessness - I was lucky enough to get to fly some parabolas in the vomit-comet. , I have to say, awesome experience, if you get the chance, do it.

Actually thinking more, I've been driven round the Nurburgring by a racing driver (day after he won an endurance race there). That was awesome. I got to do a lap myself too, which was exciting, but not as cool as being driven by a mental frenchman, who threw the car into a massive drift round one corner, wound down the window and proceeded to wave two fingers at the audi fans camped out on the outside of the bend...

Done most of the bucket list. (I'm old and had a cool job that gave opportunities.)
In the future? Better biking would be enough.

Did pretty much all my bucket list in my 20's (1992 - 2000 ish), had a ****ing ball doing whatever/whenever i liked. Why wait till you are too old to fully enjoy them? - take those experiences when you are young and fit, later in life when you start getting aches n' pains you'll realise that you have them for a damn good reason and those memories of what you got up to will stay with you for life.

I'm still an asshole but no lives where ruined in the process.

I quite fancy a bash at skeleton too.

I've also always liked the idea of having a go as passenger on a sidecar racing outfit. I suspect I would die though.

Bucket list stuff done:
Rode London to Paris in a day. That was a random decision to enter whilst sat bored on a train once.
Heli-biking in Queenstown, New Zealand. Chopper to the top of a mountain in the Remarkables, 2 hour downhill back. Incredible.
Nevis Bungy. 143m over a riverbed. The adrenaline rush was something else.
Sky diving. That makes 4 but it was immense anyway.

Bucket list to do:
Megavalanche. Nearly entered a couple of years ago but bottled it. I will do it at some point.
Some walks around Everest, not the summit and not base camp but somewhere close.
South America. Walking around Machu Pichu and the Amazon (yes, I know they're not that close to each other).

@lunge don't leave it too long, you will get to a point where doing for the first time really isn't a good idea (I'd been thinking about it for years and now have sadly reached the point where it wouldn't be a good idea)

I really should compile a proper list really. Off the top of my head,

Things what I have done, like:

I've flown and landed a helicopter (which has been at the top of my list for years and worth every second, truly awesome).[/*]

Jumped out of a perfectly good aeroplane. For years I could claim that I'd been up in a 'plane but never come down in one.[/*]

Bungee jumped. Bit of an anticlimax after the previous point, if I'm honest.[/*]

Seen a rocket launch from a couple of miles outside Minimum Safe Distance.[/*]

Built and flown model rockets.[/*]

Known the love of a good woman.[/*]

...and the lust of some bad ones.[/*]

Been part of a threesome. Didn't go very well.[/*]

Ridden on a London bus, one hand on the pole and one foot on the step, like you see in movies.[/*]

Driven a racing car on a track.[/*]

Passed my motorcycle test and owned a bike.[/*]

Driven quad bikes.[/*]

Skied, snowbladed and ice-skated. Not simultaneously.[/*]

Been a rock-climber.[/*]

Been a power-kiter, including kite buggying.[/*]

Run 10k in an hour.[/*]

Fallen off my bike, twice in quick succession, in front of the East Lancs STW massive.[/*]

Been an archer.[/*]

Shot a variety of guns and handguns (at a range in Eastern Europe with a casual disregard for safety).[/*]

Wild camped up a hill on my own.[/*]

Been the direct inspiration for one of the diseases in Theme Hospital.[/*]

Been an Expert Witness in a legal case.[/*]

Um, been a Moderator on a (mostly) popular web forum? (-:[/*]
Things what I have not yet done but really want to:

Get married. (Will be ticking this one off in a couple of weeks though...)[/*]

Rally driving. Really fancy a crack at that, it looks mental and a totally different skill to 'normal' driving.[/*]

Actually, any unusual driving. Skid pan training, supercars. Fork lift truck?![/*]

Hang gliding. That looks fun.[/*]

Some sort of Backyard Ballistics. Build a potato cannon maybe.[/*]

Put me down for the bob / skeleton thing too please.[/*]

Some sort of tour of the US. Going coast to coast in a Winnebago, or some such.[/*]
Um. That's a short list, isn't it. I think that's at least in part down to having an underactive Personal Safety Gland and an annoying tendency to say "yes" to whatever crackpot scheme someone suggests, which means that I've managed to do a good deal of what would've otherwise been on my list. I need to have a good think about what else needs to go on there really (and then abuse my privs to edit the list). Anything that's a bit unusual or involves adrenaline and I'm all over it.

Tour Divide
Win a bike race (technically already done that as a team, but it didn't count for me)
Visit all continents
Climb something really big
Learn to clear big doubles and tabletops
Ride/own a downhill bike
Ride/own a full on time trial bike
Megavalanche
Ski mountaineering
Fix my 66s fully
Drive on a racing track properly

Been the direct inspiration for one of the diseases in Theme Hospital.

Which one?! Was it bloaty head?

With reference to my post up there ^^.
I've finally ordered myself a kayak. Probably more kayak than I actually need. But I had a go and it was nice to paddle so it's my 40th birthday present to myself. Looking forward to it. 😀

I would love to be black rod at the state opening of parliament, sadly, on the odd days I take an umbrella to work, when I get back home I always knock loudly on the door with the handle three times, but I fear all this practice will never be required.

It does kick ass, with injury, it's been a few years since I've been airborne, but it's surprisingly intuitive and accessible.
