The van is booked in for its MOT tomorrow but it's got a smashed fog light (front)
I've ordered a replacement unit but it won't be here tomorrow.
Does anyone know for sure if it'll fail on this? Should I remove it entirely? And if I do will removing one be enough? Or should I remove both sides.
I'd just as soon not break the tools out twice in a week if I don't have to.
Fog lights aren't included in MOT, not front ones anyway.
An answer in 24 seconds - I love this place! Cheers Loddrik
rear one is. But I don't believe fronts are as above.
I thought any lights fitted must be working?
If it's fitted, it'll be tested. Strictly speaking it's not needed so shouldn't be failed. But some testers will see the smashed glass as a hazard. I would remove all the glass and the unit. Not fitted can't be tested.

Ive been failed for smashed front fog a couple of years back. Memory hazy but I'm pretty sure the garage taped it up to pass. As above though, simply remove to avoid. You don't need a front fog light, but sharp edges at the front are a hazard.
Could fail if glass is insecure or sharp edges exposed. Front fog lights and reverse lights are not tested so can't be a fail if not working. Rear fog has to work.
Possibly just an advisory. Its been a few years since I was a tester but Fronts were never part of the MOT.
