MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Evening STW..
A year or so back we purchased a Amcor dehumidifier, due to damp issue in a basement bathroom. It was a pretty expensive one, and its worked absolute wonders until it gave up last night.
Its about 2 months out of warranty, so that's a no go area.
However the problem seems to be pretty simple.. Upon switching it on, the compressor just clicks constantly. And doesn't stop.
Googling has lead to to believe this is an issue with either the relay or the overload, which I have took off and I am trying to find spares.
However this has lead to a few questions -
1 - The internet says that a relay should have loose parts inside when you shake it (If its broke). But mind sounds fine, is the shake test a 100%?
2 - The overload does rattle when shaken, does the shake test apply to this?
3 - I can't seem to find the exact replacements when googling, for either the relay or the overload. So do they have to be exact?
Relay -
MuRata 330MD 2 8N
Overload -
4TM 715PFBYY -52 AHX8K
Forgive what could be simple questions, however we really cant afford a new one at the moment, so would love to try and get it working again!
Thanks All,
J
Just bumping this for the evening crowd 🙂
Hope that's ok!
IME they don't generally last mode than a few years, I am a diy incompetant so I just bought another each time. Mine had quite a hard life run flat out overnight on very wet boat in spring/autumn or left on low all winter.
try tapping the compressor with a rubber hammer or piece of wood, sometimes a piston sticks, also check the float valve ids still moving and water is able to leave the condensor
Should it not have had a two year gtee by default?
check if the coil is not blocked with fluff a vacumn and a soft brush help sget it out, is the coil going cold it should when compressor starts
Its about 2 months out of warranty, so that's a no go area.
Shouldn't it have a 2 year warranty? That's an EU directive which is bettered by the SOGA 1979 (I thought this had been replaced) which gives you six years. Either way you've got a minimum of two.
I'd give the shop a call.
I have had two do that, both times the compressor had burnt out. I say burnt out it was starting and running but taking way much to much current; the compressor was getting to hot to touch. Both of them were machines that froze up and I put it down to them freezing up.
I have had the present one running, non stop, for around ten years and it was secondhand when I got it, So they can last reasonable time.
