I'm moving house and EE say that I'll only be able to get about 1Mb/s broadband speed. It's a relatively new house in Exeter so I'm bemused as to why that should be. I know that it's down to distance from the exchange and infrastructure but what are my options? A mifi?

Firstly check with OpenReach, they'll give you the status of your exchange you might find its fibre ready and just hasn't been rolled out yet. Another option is cable of course.

Over and above that there's satellite broadband which is expensive and slow or a Leased Line which is astronomical both for installation and monthly - but you can bulk buy with neighbours.

Our house was a new build in the middle of an existing cable and fibre suburb so we assumed the Internet would improve in time - our fibre cabinet goes live next week.... We're moving out in 6 weeks, we moved in 5 years ago... Virgin still don't want to know.
