Probably been asked many times before but what speed does ever one get. I've just gone from orange to BT where I was getting anything from 512kb to 3 meg now am getting from 3 meg to 6. And that's in the wilds of teuchter Tobermory.

Having problems at the moment. I'm with Orange. I should get 3 but it varies; I often get as low as 0.2 and there's nothing else on the line. I would not surprise me if these problems are caused by BT.

I used to have Virgin cable broadband and it was F A S T like 20mb but I'm on some crappy old bell wire and only get 7mb. A mate has just switched to Plusnet and report a serious speed increase into double figures!

O2 for me, hitting about 14-16Mb. I am about 500 yds from the exchange though...

Currently get 2-3 meg in the remote Aberdeen suburbs.

Am in France but we've just moved from Orange (<1.5mbit) to Free (~4mbit). This is using exactly the same line and the same exchange.

There are so many factors in broadband speeds (up and down) that simply pointing the finger at the CP is a bit narrow.

That said, I used to have FTTC* (36meg downstream) but am now back on copper in a small village about 2 miles from the exchange. A donkey would be quicker.

*fibre to the cabinet - what BT infinity is a brand of. If you can get BT Infinity, then you'll find that other unbundled CPs in your exchange can also sell you fibre. TalkTalk and Sky deffo do.

I'm with BT Infinity, getting a reliable 37mb over wire 30mb+ over wireless, about 8mb upstream, naturally I'm overjoyed.

Zen. Quoted as up to 8Mb but fairly reliably get 6.5 - 7. It copes no bother with streaming movies on Love Film/iPlayer and the like so never felt the need for anything faster. Upload speeds are a bit slow though. I can't get cable/fibre optic anyway

Pretty steady 37Mb here. On BT infinity, used to get 3.6Mb before the switch to infinity.

Anyone here using fibre that isn't supplied by BT?

I'm interested to know if a whole load of work I'm doing is p*ssing in the wind if BT's the only CP selling the product..!

20mb with BT on 'crappy old bell wire'.

But I am only two minutes walk from the exchange, which makes my commute just two minutes aswell 🙂
