We will be in touch
Calling all Brighton dwellers. I will be at the seaside this weekend with the good lady and we want a proper fish super.
So where is the best place?
Where is the best place on the seafront?
And while you are at it where is the best pub closest to your Chippy?
Quite a few Brighton dwellers on here I think so you'll get a few responses.
I've actually found it quite hard to find a decent fish and chip shop (so will be interested in other responses) but for a fish dinner (rather than fish and chips) I'd recommend Riddle and Finn (Lanes) or English's also in the Lanes.
Pubs - I like The Foragers in Hove (quite away from restaurants above) or The Basket Makers and also the White Rabbit. But like fish and chips shops have struggled to find decent ones so interested to hear other recommendations too!
HTH
Oh and Due South is worth a look - right on the seafront, not a fish restaurant per ce but does good fish - I've had fantastic lobster and champagne there which on the sea is pretty much the perfect meal.
The Grapes Pub, Limehouse, (That) London E14. 😀
No sorry but it's true!
you won't get decent fish'n'chips on Brighton seafront, just overpriced tourist greasy rubbish, unless you want something a bit different then go to the Fish Smokery under the arches just west of the Palace Pier for crab sarnies and mackerel baps
Bankers on Western Road in Brighton is a block up from the seafront by Norfolk Square (Robin Hood best local pub), and the Chip Basket is further west in Hove, also a block up from the seafront, Bardsley's of Baker St in Brighton is a good way from the seafront but good fish'n'chips
OK thanks for all the replies so far.
It appears we are staying on Regency Square if that makes any difference of where to go.
walk the 5 minutes from Regency Square to Bankers picking up bottle of wine/beers on the way, get take-out, walk down to beach, spread out travel-rug, sit, enjoy
Bardsley's of Baker st is the best I've tried.
The Grapes Pub, Limehouse, (That) London E14.
I had food poisoning after having the White Bait.
+1 for The Grapes Brilliant food.
Brighton apparently Bankers on Western Road google says so so must be true.
The chip basket in hove is lovely, right on church road.
All I would add is if you drop a chip, don't bend down to pick it up.
Why's that then BigJohn? Hmm? Why's that?

Sorry.
You mustuv bin unfortunate. I've never had a problem with any of the food there.
I'm going to be controversial here; I think Buddies (take away seafront) does the best chips - wouldn't eat anything else there though - unless pi$$ed! Bankers - yep that's good, and then the Chip Basket in Hove (best eaten with a bottle of dry cider on the beach). Riddle & Fin that'll be an experience if you've the cash!
My twopence worth anyway...
It's a fact Horsham has the best fish and chip shop in the south! 😉
