There's a Bridleway which I regularly ride which is pretty much blocked by a fallen tree.
I reported it on the Fix My Street website and the council have got back to me to tell me that it's on private land therefore not their problem.

How can I find out who owns the Bridleway in this case?

Council should have told you to contact the rights of way officer.

Normally I would report to the Rights of Way Department at the local Council. Have you tried that?

You report it to the Rights of Way officer - it may not be his job to actually clear it, but it *IS* his job to ensure it's clear. In this case, it's his job to chase the landowner, and he should have access to the relevant information

If a privately-owned tree has fallen across a highway (maintained at the public expense) and is up to the landowner to clear, likewise growth from the side. Growth up from the surface is the councils responsibility. 99% of the time it's quicker for me to clear trees across PRoW's than it is faffing around finding out who the landowner is ๐Ÿ™‚

So yes, report it to your PRoW team, if someone hasn't nicked it for firewood in the meantime

Thanks for that.
I've emailed the Council Rights of Way Officer, hopefully they'll sort it out ๐Ÿ™‚
