So, (bear with me hear cos there's a bit of a build up).....

Brian Cox on the one show talking up his new show, explaining how he made the sun rise twice in one day, by flying at Mach 1.4 in a typhoon towards Ireland after sunset, fast enough to catch up the day/night line. He's explaining why they have to hit the brakes before they get to Irish airspace as the Irish air defence don't like British jets overflying their territory....

Cox: 'what happens if we keep going?'
Pilot:'they panic and launch the Cessna'
Me:snarf over the IPad!

The Swiss air force work office hours including lunch time. There was an incident last year with a hijacked plane which they couldn't "escort" because it was only half six in the morning. At first, that looked like a cannon, but it's a tow trolley parked further over.

And that's why Russia invaded them both last year

I guess we're so nice, friendly and popular around the world that no one would want to attack us. You've got a big air force though, don't you 🙂

On the other hand the Swiss were clever enough to build some of the worlds only airfields where your entire airforce don't run the risk of being wiped out in an instant "6 Day War' style, by actually building their aircraft shelters into the sides of mountains.

Where as if the RAF was ever caught with it's pants down, they'd all be toast given the accuracy of modern munitions.

You might laugh, but the swiss can run a relaxed outfit because they turned their entire country into one giant fortress.

I was waiting for a flight from ABZ, sat in the lounge I happened to watch the sun set. Then we were called to the flight and took off promptly. At height the sun was visible and I saw it set again.

No Cessna was inconvenienced in this.

Not seen these but wouldn't a few well placed missiles at the entrances to said mountains would incapacitate most of their airforce?

They can run a relaxed outfit because they sit on the fence and offer no real threat to any party.
