Only 4.5 Billion Mefty, I'll look down the back of the sofa for that? It's such a small sum it should be easy to find.

Do you actually read and think about what you're spouting?

Sanwich - as far as I remember that number is the total amount of trade - not the profits so actual losses to the UK are only a small % of that
But mefty does put a hopelessly optimistic spin on this. Remember the main regulatory crunch has not happened yet in financial services and its just one way traffic that is going to continue

And IMO the reason why Johnson and his cronies did not even ask for financial services to be included is they do not want the regulation that is needed for the EU to consider equivalence let alone passporting as they want London to become a money laundering / tax avoidence centre even more than it is and EU equivalence regulation would prevent this

I don’t think it’s just your opinion.

It most certainly isn't just TJ's opinion.

Where did much of the dodgy money behind Leave come from?

Where does the Tory party get a fair wedge of large donations from?

A clue, it rhymes with 'usher'.

As with Woodward and Bernstein - follow the money.

Well it will be now, I took advantage before the window of opportunity was slammed into my face.

I think you only had to prove a income of roughly 600-900ish euros a month for a family for residency, 3rd country status puts that 4-5 x more nowadays.

It’s what really irks me that it’s going to be only the rich that get to arse about like they always have, when you could actually have a mooch around here without a fat wad.

Aaron Banks.

Luckily it seems like there is a huge reservoir of stupidity out there and, here is the key, it isn’t evenly distributed.

Fossil fools?

At some point, will people come to realise that the "elite" are exempt from the restrictions we've put on ourselves, and our children? Will that penny ever drop? Not sure it will. Auf wiedersehen, pet.

That's a very good question. Putin? I've no idea, it never occurred to me to look.

Won't that put a dent in the £350m a week that the NHS will be getting?

I'm sure Cummings, Banks, Farage, Johnson wouldn't lie, so there must have been a mistake, right?

Useful.....

Idiots.

I think not bothering to look is a ‘thing’ going by that U.K. Russia Report.

Yes. I'm amazed too.

Who'd have thunk it......

Dodgy Russian money.

Luckily dodgy Russian oligarchs have a strong sense of 'doing the right thing' so we can all be relieved that they paid for Brexit for altruistic reasons....

Or 52% of the people who voted were 'had'.....?

But that can't be right either, because they keep assuring me that they knew what they were voting for.

Very confusing.

I know a couple of Scottish leave voters who would vote against independence if it meant rejoining the EU. Fishing and sovereignty blah blah blah.

And where did he get it from?

The multi million dollar question.

And then there is the Elliots and Mercer... $$$$$

I'm far more worried about how right wing USA interests put so much money and effort into convincing little old UK to stand alone than I am about the transparent benefits to Putin of our self own.

Fishing and sovereignty blah blah blah.

Fishing? Still? Hmm...

I know more than a couple of people who voted to stay in 2014 who would now vote leave just because the are fed up with being governed by Westminster (taking EU completely out the equation). Try and bear in mind that a very high % of Scots have absolutely no trust in the Tories.

But would they actually put their money where their (loud) mouths are and move to England if Scotland gained independence and rejoined the EU?

I doubt it as they're most likely full of shit.

A copy of the presentation, first published by the Russian website Tsur, is understood to have been circulated to a number of people, including Banks. He ultimately did not invest.

More likely to be true than a pack of lies you would swallow whole.

@thatscold

The best thing about this is that you assume I must be 'left wing'. By most rationales I would be 'centre' or 'centre right'. Brexit is Far Right*

*Well, it is when it is sold to the gullible. For its proponents it is a cashing in exercise - be it financial, political or (most likely) both.

The problem with left/right is that is that the centre has moved, it ain't all that central any more. "Just right of centre" these days is about where we'd put Goering.

Agreed. Remain vs Leave Leave isn't about 'left' vs 'right' as I would define them. It is more like 'foaming at the mouth, chewing the carpet nationalist nut jobbery' vs 'everyone else'. The shock to me was just how many people in this country could just pop along to a polling booth and empower a political movement that should be regarded as 'do not touch with a barge pole'.

Again, though, it must be said that the 'foaming at the mouth nationalist nut jobbery' was only really the vehicle that the real drivers used to get their heist over the line. The financial drivers don't give a shit what the politics are so long as they make money from it. The likes of Johnson et al are just political opportunists who can ride the tide for their own advancement politically (and later financially too).

The worrying question is what comes next. Now racism and xenophobia are legitimised. Add in the economic impact on the 99% and......

Although it must be said, icky and a bit naff as it was, I'd jump at Blair's Cool Britannia meets slick(ish) PR machine approach nowadays. At least it presupposed a certain amount of respectability was needed.

Instead we have Alexander Boris De Pfeffel Johnson (Man of the People) wrapping himself in union jacks, pretending to be a patriot, dropping incongruous Latin titbits in every now and again and occasionally alluding back to thinly veiled racist comments he made previously - for the sole purpose of appealing to pillocks. Pillocks who he wouldn't give the time of day to unless they were the target audience for his rickety little panto act.

Ah, the old "but the other boys were doing it too!" defence, straight out of the old Pfeffel "avoid/deny all responsibility" playbook. I'd take a thousand Blairs over number 10's current bag of mince incumbent.

But Tony would have done it so much better....

Boris is exactly what the Nationalist masses want, bit thick, bit of a dick, thinks he is clever, serial shagger, drink problem, cant comb his hair or dress himself- you could slip him into a wetherspoons seamlessly.

Him and Father Jack (Tim Spoons) two cheeks of the same spotty arse.

Time for a Beer...

Precisely.

If you look at Johnson's political success in getting to be PM and you don't think "**** me, this really is a sad indictment of the intellect of the population at large", then you are probably part of the problem.

Agreed on the beer front. Nice bike ride in the morning too. Time to forget about Captain Plonker and his support cast of millions of Mini-Me's and relax......

🙂

I've liquidated my commercial property portfolio nest egg and cleared the mortgage, have an EU passport via Irish wife and work in a technical arena. I could literally walk away leaving this dog shit and Costa litter strewn shithole to the Sun and red top reading mong's that voted Brexit.

We've already established that whilst it was a predominantly far right campaign the twin threads of racist/xenophobia and stupidity were to the fore.

It seems an odd thing to want to take credit for, but if that's your bag, you knock yerself out fella. You were the target audience it would seem.

👍

It must really hurt the leave voters to know that their vote was the biggest gift Putin could've asked for

They were easily conned
