My Soul is lacking stopping power. The Avid Juicy 3's I took from my old bike are really soft and on my ride this morning I had a couple of hairy moments.
Obviously one option is to bleed and replace pads to give them a new lease of life, but I'm tempted to upgrade altogether. A few of the guys I ride with have Hope brakes which look swish.
Any recommendations for general XC use - no more than £200 for the complete set (I assume that will include new rotors?).

Try new pads and giving them a bleed. Softness usually indicates air in the system, which shouldn't be there. Otherwise I'm a big fan of Magura brakes.
