Right, I know they are not physically holding the pad in place, but just replaced the rear disks and pads on the van and one of the anti-rattle springs has disappeared. Corroded/broken off. Didn't realise until I had to remove it from the second caliper 🤦
Think is, theres no way the corroded stubs are coming out. They're made of extremely hard wire. I dremel'd off the sharp bit but my drill isn't touching the remnants stuck in the hole.Â
Seems to excessive to have to replace the caliper and it didn't make a load of noise on the test drive. Just ignore or ask the garage to sort it when it gets serviced, (soon).Â
It's going to need new rear shocks also because the weather shield has completely corroded off one of them.Â
I'd say that life is too short to be faffing around if you are about to get the garage to replace the shock- get them on it. Maybe ask them to give the underside of the vehicle a good looking at esp. for corrosion issues.
... esp. for corrosion issues
It's a highl mileage Transit. Corrosion problems a nailed on certainty. 😄
