I'm on the lookout for a 'cool' gizmo as a Christmas present for a tech fiend who seems to have everything. It is a 'proxy' present i.e. I am seeking it out on behalf of an elderly relative for my 22 yr old son who is into nothing but his computer. Befitting the financial status of said relative, I have only got £20 to £25 to play with.

I am bereft of ideas. On the premise that I can't be the only one in the land in the same dilemma I thought I would consult the Oracle. (Preferably non computer oriented. We clubbed together and got him a bike last year and he has all the small odds and sods he needs for that.) He has so much music, he admitted he hasn't listened to over half of it. I thought about clothes but what can you get for £20?

r/c helicopter from somewhere like Menkind. You might struggle for £20, but £25 should be do-able.

Something like this:

Probably worth trawling the Menkind site actually, and also have a look on Firebox.com - they normally have more quirky bits.

Lego Minecraft? (quite dear for what they are, but pretty cool if you've ever been a fan of the game).

The original one is a bit over-budget at £34, but there are a couple of £29 sets now.

On the helicopter front, this is the one I'd buy:

Lego Minecraft.....might well hit the spot if I can get something for the right price.

Menkind site looks worth a trawl. I think he had an RC copter a few years ago and I got more fun out of it than he did!

Thanks for the input.

Re: Clothes. One ideas is a t-shirt featuring a film/game you know he likes.
See threadless or teetee (or even ebay)

Bluetooth little speaker for tunes when out and about?

Here's a few ideas from Firebox that caught my eye...

These are good - Apache RC helicopter. My son has one (which I play with far more often)

A Hubsan X4 quadcopter or a Raspberry Pi ( it is computer orientated, but he seems to like that sort of thing from your description).

Over budget but saw this when browsing GF's link...

http://www.red5.co.uk/star-wars-onesies.aspx

I wouldn't be seen dead in a onsie, but if I was it would have to be an R2D2 one.

If he likes his tech, how about an external USB charger? Can get some which can charge a smart phone up to 5 times on a single charge.

Good for camping or long bike rides if you are using GPS for tracking.
